piano recitals {3.31.08}

April 7, 2008

My “girls” {Kiana & Myla} take piano lessons from the most talented, wonderful woman Maiza Simpson. She has a strong Austrian accent and an infectious love of music. This was Myla’s 1st year of piano and Kiana’s first year {returning from a 2 year break} with Maiza. The recital was very traditional and just CUTE! I am a terrible piano mom because I require nothing of my girls. No practice. I am not hoping for my children to become amazing pianist, but I figure in ten years after a 30 minute lesson every week they will at least be better than I ever was…

Autumn DelGrosso-Turley & Ashly DelGrosso-Costa giving last minute practice to Myla & Ezra and the other young couples from Center Stage Performing Arts Studio

The swing started out with 4 heats of 30 couples = about 120 couples, Myla & Ezra were called back 4 times! So, they made it to the final 24 couples… This is also so cool {let me remind you} because Ezra is 7 and Myla is 8….they compete in the pre-teen division which is 12 & under!

In-between each round, they post the results of who has been called back by the male’s number,

for her jazz company, “Mini Elites” was tonight. Coach Cassie Ford does such a great job with these girls! They did 2 dances, first – “Orange Colored Sky,” that I have already put the video of on our blog around last Christmas and second – “Back to the track Jack.” I don’t actually know if that is the correct name… Myla comes out first in the line of girls and dances a quick swing with Ezra, then she’s all over the place. I wish I could help point her out better, but they really travel around in this one!

Myla’s ballroom team from Center Stage, “Preteen Millenia” performed at the Provo H.S. Ballroom competition this afternoon. This was their first time to perform this year, they don’t have their costumes yet for this Quickstep so they wore their normal black/white couples outfits… Myla is partners with Niua in this dance ~ they did so great!

Tonight, we [Dusty, Kiana, Myla, and I] went with the Morton’s to dinner @ the Bombay House for some delicious Indian food [a family favorite.] Then we headed over to see some of Kiana & Myla’s friends/dancer buddies @ the Vibe’s “Evolutions of Dance” playing @ the new Covey Center for the Arts in Provo.
