my bijou faves

April 11, 2011

if you missed the bijou market this past weekend. here were some of my favorite goods from now & in the past… lucky for you, most of these fine handmade-crafters have etsy shops!

i was shopping for easter & mother’s day gifts, with a few little must-have accessories that got mixed in… i would much rather have all these handmade treasure for easter goodies than generic-mass-produced goods.

take a look!

reader question…

November 20, 2010

“Hello Jane! I have followed your blog for a while now without commenting. Thanks for always sharing such cute ideas on parties, crafts, shopping, eating, you name it! I was wondering what you recommend getting close neighbors or family friends for Christmas? Have you given or received some cool gifts over the years that you could share for ideas? Thanks! -Ashleigh”

hey ashleigh. my thoughts on gift-giving are always this: make it personal. {and unique, if possible!}

either choose something that is your favorite to share with those you love or choose something that totally suits the people you are giving it to.

i finally started nighttime potty-training with sela.
with our first three kids, i did daytime/nighttime at the same time.

but, with sela, we were lazy. we are older & lazier parents.
we purchased pull-ups and let her have an extra year to grow
before trying the all-dreaded night time potty training.

to motivate her, we made a stop at the toy store and stocked up on some
adorable new toys that she would earn each night when she woke up
with a dry bed.

as usual,
we, the parents, were more worried than needed to be.

i was recently browsing the current issue of ‘Woman’s Day,’ and saw an ad for this:

“This year, Canvas on Demand, a company that turns your photos into canvas portraits, will send a 16″x20″ canvas to any mom/wife of a deployed service member for FREE. {$112 value}. The soldier just needs to go to canvasondemand.com {here} to register for “Operation: Hi Mom/honey!” and upload a photo. What a great gift when they’re so far away!”

boo-ing season

October 26, 2009

is here!

dusty took our kids out boo-ing last week. i found these cute & very affordable {$4.95} kits at starbucks. I also chose to fill them with sugar-free treats from starbucks. I figured that way they were adult & kid friendly.

by the way, if you remember…dusty, danny, and i made a bet to stay-off-sugar for TWELVE weeks!

how insane are we?!?

well, we are all eights weeks in and doing great! 4 weeks to go, then we’re going to indulge in thanksgiving~yams, rolls, pumpkin pie, pecan pie..of course, in small portions.

then we’ll keep going sugar-free! did anyone join us in this insanity?
