STARGIRL

January 4, 2012

this is a super quick read, that i read in december while i was traveling.

We did not know what to make of her.
In our minds we tried to pin her to cork board like a butterfly,
but the pin merely went trough and away she flew.

this is a novel about the importance of being yourself, accepting you for who you are and what you are. believing in yourself and your abilities. this message is good for young teens, and for adults too. as an adult, are you being true to who you are?

wrapping presents.

December 21, 2011

these were a few of the gifts i wrapped this year. i have always been fond of brown kraft paper. in my eyes it is perfect. if you’re looking for other wrapping ideas, look here.

do you enjoy wrapping gifts? despise it? it can be a lot of work, after everything else that needs to be done — but, i love wrapping the gifts just as much as giving what’s inside… it makes my heart warm.

cheers to pretty ribbons!

xoxo.

i dote on giving gifts… for every occasion.

and, as much as i like planning & preparing the gift,
i also love making the gift wrap unique.

at the recent bijou market i grabbed these darling clothespins from vintage fern.

i haven’t seen any in her shop, but perhaps if you send her a message – you can get some!
{or, this would be a great do-it-yourself-project!}

i love using them in place of bows. it’s so easy, simple, and adorable!

{all photos by me. this is not a sponsored post.}

my mom has lived with us for ten years. in our last home, we had a mother-in-law-apartment in the basement and she moved in with us there in 2001. then when we built our current home, we built grandma her own little cottage that you can see in the post below. {she really enjoys sitting in front of her cottage on warm afternoons.}

with our big move to boston coming up, my mom is going to return to salt lake city and live closer to family there.

so, this feels like the end of an era, we are going our separate ways after spending a decade together… our kids are accustomed to grandma just being a one minute walk away…
