our 4 little pumpkins…

October 29, 2008

decorated, colored, and carved their pumpkins!

we truly went all-out this year and last night we stopped by our local Albertsons to hunt for about 20 pumpkins, yes, 20…
Then we came home and the kids used our traditional “Mr. potato head” style pumpkin decor for the first few pumpkins…i love these, they are a riot.Sela kept going out on the front porch this afternoon to visit her pumpkin…Kiana put her festive socks on to show her pumpkin spirit…

Tonight we carved all of the others. I love carving pumpkins. seriously. I invested in a pumpkin-carving Dremel this year, it was awesome.

Sacagawea

October 29, 2008

Myla’s class had to read a biography for their book reports this month. Then they dressed up as the person, and gave an oral report. They gave the report in 1st person without saying who they were and then at the end, the class could guess…

Myla’s buddy Boston already knew who she was, and Myla made all her buddies promise not to say till the end, so at the very last word, Boston yelled “You’re Sacagawea!” it was cute. Also, Sacagawea had traveled with Lewis and Clark and her “best boy” was Clark for his book report. It was very cool. I wish I would have gotten a picture of all her friends together!

Myla was such a cute Sacagawea!

activity days

October 16, 2008

with the kids back in school, i am being much more organized with activity days than i was over the summer…

In the past weeks, I’ve had tons of fun with these girls.

One day, they each made dinner to take home for their families…they were so proud of themselves, and I was so proud of them!

On another afternoon, we planted grass seeds as hair in munakuppi animals…

KJ participates in activity days whenever he is home. Sometimes he thinks it’s too girly and bails to find a friend to play with!

happy october

October 5, 2008

When the kids came home yesterday, they had
“happy october”
baskets waiting for them…

{so much for not throwing balls in the house…}

Then we put up the Halloween decorations today…I loved how excited KJ was…
as we were decorating the “Halloween” tree,
he was so chatty…

“Mom, Halloween is the last day of October.”
“Mom, I just love Halloween.”
“Mom, I love you, too.”
“Mom, I’m going to use this decoration to scare Sela…”

my Myla

September 29, 2008

Myla’s first book report this year for 3rd grade could be any type of report –
poster, display, diorama, written, collage, etc…

She read a Magic Tree house book –

“Season of the Sandstorms”

then put her creativity to work…and made this!

The Magic Tree house, where Annie & Jack start their adventure then travel across the desert on camels to Baghdad, to find the Mosque with a gold dome…It turned out so cool!
Way to go, My! We are proud of you!

Kiana was actually jealous of Myla’s project. Her class just finished their first book report for this year,

Mrs. Coach Emery made this sign for the team, and each week depending on the color of team they play, they change the girls shirt color!
Go Piranhas!Myla has been a little discouraged this season because the division she’s in now is much harder, and the fields are larger than the past years…
