ode to duct tape.

June 9, 2011

my myla has a serious-new-fetish.

duct tape! No I don’t mean some BDSM duct tape sexual fantasy that you’d probably find viewers of https://www.fulltube.xxx/ and other adult sites, enjoy.

it all started when kiana’s friend tara started making & selling flower duct tape rings. myla ordered one from tara, and when she told me about it, i told myla, YOU should learn how to make them – that’s totally your kind of thing!

so. we asked tara to come over and give myla a duct-tape-flower-making lesson. soon after, i visited the local ‘hobby lobby’ + ‘target’ and bought a serious supply of duct tape to help myla get started…

and since then,

upcycled scooter.

May 27, 2011

we are a scooter-loving-family.

and, this spring kj has been cruising all-over the neighborhood on his sister myla’s hand-me-down razor scooter.

only problem: it’s pink.

each time i watched him cruise by on this barbie pink scooter, i would cringe.

mainly, because: he is not a pink-kind-of-guy. i bought him a pink shirt once, and he adamately refused to wear it. so, i’ve learned my lesson. this kid only wears “boy” colors. he won’t wear pink. purple. not even yellow! meaning: watching him ride this pink-licious scooter was killing me!

so, as we’ve been preparing for our yard sale, we decided we’d sell the pink scooter. and, even kj was ok with that decision regardless of how much he loved riding it!

.....

we are still going non-stop around here to prepare for our yard sale…
less is amore, so we are clearing things out!

i couldn’t resist making this cute cardboard cash register!
seriously, i could make things out of cardboard as a career!
big-time-obsession! {hey, my kids like it – gives them something to play with later!}

i was inspired here, on oh, hello friend blog. then, the same cash register popped up on pinterest. and, as i’ve said before – i love pinterest. best invention this year. have you joined yet?!? if you need an invite, let me know.

oilcloth storage bins

May 17, 2011
this past thursday i went to my first craft night at soel.

understatement: it was so fun. shelby, who is a friend of mine + the owner of soel was our lovely host. it was so nice to just show up & have all the supplies + tools ready for us. we were able to just sit down & sew! and, all this + delicious refreshments for only $8! And, instead of making just one oilcloth storage bin, we were given the option to make two for the same price because she had extra supplies! love it!

shelby used this tutorial from design sponge.

bubble wrap hopscotch.

May 11, 2011

we are busy with projects around here! projects that involve moving! i have a large-moving-to-do-list, and each day we are checking off tasks.

my motto: organizing by minimizing!

sela is thoroughly enjoying this-whole-organizing-and-cleaning-process.

she takes time to play with everything, one more time. even if the item was never hers to begin with! she’s building forts with storage bins, setting up pretend shops with christmas decor, playing dress up with older siblings past costumes…

and, while we are working hard — we are still taking time to play hard, too!

bubble-wrap hopscotch!

i saw this idea here,
