we drove into the city, found a great spot to park on west street. walked around enjoying the sunshine. had hot dogs and sodas at the boston common. we rode the T out to south boston for the annual st patty’s day parade – lots of green traveling on the subway!

we waited two hours for the parade, but made it to the front for a great view! the parade was fun, simple, festive – lots of bagpipes, armed forces, star wars, and saint patrick!  we left early. we are not really parade people… i recommend going to it once in your life,

candlepin bowling.

we love trying new things around new england.
our latest adventure {last weekend} was candlepin bowling!

we were awful. it’s a lot harder than regular bowling.
and very different.  however, we had a lot of fun.
…we enjoyed trying to see how many “ball” jokes we could make.
husband some of us, may never grow up.

have you ever tried candlepin bowling?
even heard of it?

Jerry Remy’s

we have become fans of jerry remy’s down on the harbor in the city.

and, our family loves group hugs, whenever we can squeeze them in!

who is jerry remy? in a nutshell, he was a red sox second baseman starting in the late 70s, he is currently president of the red sox nation, and a red sox commentator for NESN, so obviously we are fans of the restaurant. {go sox!}

luminary festival.

our new town had a luminary festival earlier this month.

…i had been busy with miss thirteen all weekend. but we made it home to literally throw the other munchkins in the car & drive around town. we spent one hour, after dark, windows down, xm radio blaring xmas tunes, slowly driving up and down the luminary-lit streets.

the town in the northwest where i grew-up had a luminary festival each winter before christmas when i was a kid. and for some reason, because my kids have never seen a luminary… this little festival was very important to me. my dad used to drive me around to see all the lights. now, i wanted to be the one to drive my kids around.

the boston common frog pond.

i would like to write this post & simmer down my passion for such events. because, to be honest – most of the rhodes family excluding myself are pretty darn awful at ice skating. husband and i managed to keep sela safe for one full lap.

…kiana squealed and screamed as she almost kept falling – nearly killed herself while we sweat over the thought of her being hurt for dance. myla and kj voluntarily left the rink after one lap {clinging to the wall & myla took a hard fall on her bum.} both more excited about the cocoa being sold than the ice skating. and, the howell’s all seem to be pros.
