grandparents day…

November 6, 2008

It was grandparents day at Ivy Hall Academy today. Our kids were so lucky to have the one grandma and the one grandpa they have in attendance. We are so lucky to be a close-knit family that spends so much time together. Even when we aren’t together we still keep in contact. I was even thinking of getting something like this easy cell phone for elderly people, to make keeping in a contact a lot easier as well, as I know that my Papa sometimes struggles with using his phone (although he would never admit to it). I recently took Papa to get his portrait done after finding some really good senior portraits Austin examples online.

Dr. Seuss

Kiana’s class also read biographies this month for their book reports. She was required to make a poster to represent the book/person.

I LOVE how Kiana designed her poster, it’s super cool and 3D-ish!
Jenn Granum gave her the idea to put a book on it!
so cute. Way to go, bear!

Sacagawea

October 29, 2008

Myla’s class had to read a biography for their book reports this month. Then they dressed up as the person, and gave an oral report. They gave the report in 1st person without saying who they were and then at the end, the class could guess…

Myla’s buddy Boston already knew who she was, and Myla made all her buddies promise not to say till the end, so at the very last word, Boston yelled “You’re Sacagawea!” it was cute. Also, Sacagawea had traveled with Lewis and Clark and her “best boy” was Clark for his book report. It was very cool. I wish I would have gotten a picture of all her friends together!

Myla was such a cute Sacagawea!

Myla’s first book report this year for 3rd grade could be any type of report –
poster, display, diorama, written, collage, etc…

She read a Magic Tree house book –

“Season of the Sandstorms”

then put her creativity to work…and made this!

The Magic Tree house, where Annie & Jack start their adventure then travel across the desert on camels to Baghdad, to find the Mosque with a gold dome…It turned out so cool!
Way to go, My! We are proud of you!

Kiana was actually jealous of Myla’s project. Her class just finished their first book report for this year,

Springville Museum of Art

September 26, 2008

I was one of two parents who took Kiana’s 5th grade class to the Springville Museum of Art today…

for a field trip.

Right now there is an incredible exhibition of Utah illustrators for Children’s Books taking place there…I totally recommend it!

I was the lucky Momma who drove the GIRLS…yes, there are 7 girls in Kiana’s class and 4 boys…that’s it!

one girl missed the field trip today, so there were only 6…

I have to note here: to all my ex-Korean English teachers –
Katie is from Mok-dong!
How cool is that!?!

week in review…

August 29, 2008

Sunday night, Dusty said:
“Who wants to camp out on the Balcony with Dad?”
Very quickly, came 3 replies…

“Me!” -Myla
“Me too!” -KJ
“Not me! Mom, Can I sleep with you if Dad’s outside?” -Kiana

Dusty made up very comfy beds out on the balcony for everyone at about 9pm…

By 10pm, the thrill of it all had worn off for KJ and he tip-toed back inside asking me to tuck him into his bed… {Because I was awake – on the computer – digi scrapping}

Right after I tucked KJ into bed I sneaked outside to take a photo –
Within 2 hours,
