our kids’ school had their annual carnival, last week.
dusty & i couldn’t make it, but they had a great time without us!

sela loved it all!

kj loved running around with his buddy nate!

{myla went to tennis practice}

kiana was so excited to be a 6th grader and get to help with the carnival!

the first day of school

August 20, 2009

i have always loved school, even though i do wish summer vacation was longer…i have some sort of addiction to learning new things.

my kids went back today. such a fun morning. there was excitement in the air. i still have a few more days before i go back to school. this semester i am taking sculpture, 3d design, and a graphic computer applications class. {woo-hoo!}

if i could, i would send all you students out there a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils!

here’s to another great school year, cheers!

the story is…kj got on the bus at school to come home and all his sister’s buddy’s {6th grade boys} were chanting for him when he got on the bus!

.....

was the theme for our kids school spring program this past week.

kj is such a funny kid. oh my my. We can’t help but smile when we think about him. Dusty and I continually caught glimpses at each other across the row of seats in the audience {sela and grandma between us} as we laughed at this little guy. He is so NOT interested in performing. NOT at ALL. maybe my three girls sucked every performing gene out of me because kj missed the boat!

maybe he yawned way more than he sang. so, it’s only appropriate to share this picture-{hehe!}
myla’s class did awesome! they each dressed up in different costumes to represent the different nationalities and cultures that make America what it is.

felt headbands

May 10, 2009

our kitchen counter ~ all weekend…myla made some felt headbands to “sell” at school this coming week. Her class has been earning fake money for good behavior, good work, etc.

the plan is to have a class store full of their own items to purchase from one another to wrap up an economics unit. hopefully they learn well and this next generation can make sure the economy doesn’t get in the mess we are in now – again.

one of Myla’s “rolled” felt flowers headband
i had to get in on the action & create a few too-this project was temporary and is not going to take-over our life unlike the last flower clips project.

speed-museuming…

May 9, 2009

I tagged along as one of the chaperone’s for KJ’s kindergarten field trip to thanksgiving point today.

It was quite the adventure. FAST adventure.

gone are the days of speed-dating, everyone should try SPEED-museuming.

It was mostly me trying to keep up with these two six year old’s. we literally spent seconds at each fossil, picture, or activity. I imagine this doesn’t usually happen if your child is not familiar with the museum. In my case, the dinosaur museum is one of KJ’s favorite places, he knows it well.

i did QUICKLY snap pictures of the highlights-I didn’t manage to get into any of the pictures,

may day fishing

May 2, 2009

I remember “may day” as a kid in Washington state, my grandpa would help me make little bouquets of flowers, he was an amazing gardener. I would leave the bouquets on the neighbors doorsteps, ring the doorbell and run. Did anyone else ever do this? Door-ditching and leaving flowers even got me in our local paper one year, just for keeping the tradition alive…

This year, I spent my “may day” fishing with my girl. Kiana’s 5th grade teacher is a fishing enthusiast. They have been planning a fishing field trip to Deer Creek Reservoir, but with all the rain and snow melt the fishing conditions there are less than ideal. So, one of the boys in the class,
