we are thoroughly enjoying autumn in the northeast, it’s like this was the birthplace of fall.
there is a town near us – stowe, vermont, that is known as a tourist destination this time of year – just to go view the foliage.

seriously – like going to hawaii for the sun & beach, you go to stowe to see orange leaves, people! amazing.

i’m not sure if we’ll make it to stowe this year, but our own front yard is putting on quite the show right now…

when i sit on our front porch, i just watch one leaf after another tumble to the ground. it’s beautiful – relaxing.

we’re slowly making our way all-the-way-around-fenway-park.

fenway is so unique, did you know:

it was built in 1912 and opened on the same day the Titanic sunk {kinda eeery!}
Fenway Park was built to conform to the parcel of land that was allotted to it and the field’s resulting dimensions led to many of the ballpark’s unique features.
Most notably, there’s the 37-foot high Green Monster – the most recognized piece of ballpark architecture in the world – which spans 240 feet before giving way to the area known as the triangle in center field. — The Green Monster has undergone a major transformation in recent years, capped by the 2003 addition of 274 seats atop it.

no lie! this might be one of the most beautiful places, on earth.

last week kj started lacrosse & flag football; myla started lacrosse & field hockey all through a local kids club.
the classes are taught at ‘elm bank reservation.’

…our first day, we pulled in, crossed a truly magical bridge, and literally my heart did a little skip.

we made the slow drive around the reservation,

is the author of the big nate comic strip & book series.

KJ, my not-such-a-fan-of-reading-son, loves the big nate series.

so. when i found out that our local library has an UH-MAZ-ING line-up of visiting authors…
AND, that lincoln peirce was coming…
we had to be there!

lincoln spoke to the kids/parents for an hour – he gave drawing demonstrations and chatted about how & why he got started in doing comics.

the best part: i was just as entertained as kj was – lincoln was so funny & inspiring.
the even better part: right in the middle of lincoln’s presentation, kj leaned over & told me,

…a few weeks ago.

shannon & cory brought boston {their 12-year old son} out here for a special birthday trip for his 12th birthday. it was time he visited his namesake city! boston and myla have grown-up with each other at home, and of course shannon & cory are dear friends.

we visited newberry street + went trail running together one morning + played lots of blokus + went shopping + had a little karaoke-concert by the kiddos, sela made a sign for her band, it was called “tea & the band” and she set-up her tea set for us during the show – hilarious little girl! + spent a morning at nahant beach. the taylor family also did lots of other sight-seeing while our kiddos were in school &

we are not a very outdoorsy family by most definitions of outdoorsy.

we are a sportsy-active-family, but we avoid most camping/hiking/biking/anything that has’t to do with the REI-store-in general.
it’s just better that way. most of the times we’ve attempted river rafting, camping, biking – it ends in some sort of disaster.

having that said, i will still get the occasional itch to do something outdoorsy.

this time, it involved me BEGGING my family all day to go on a bike ride.
no one wanted to go.

husband actually told me in the middle of the afternoon,
“it just sounds so difficult & inconvenient…”
