spring break day 6

April 18, 2008

Yesterday we dined for lunch at our favorite sushi stop..Happy Sumo
KJ has figured out if he doesn’t tear apart his chopsticks, he can squeeze his food between them to make it work –
Then my little climber MYLA wanted to go to –

She did about 6 climbs, this was her most difficult one, I was very proud of her – it took her about 20 minutes with that little ledge to get up…
I finally begged her to stop because my forearm and neck were so tired from belaying her…
KJ does NOT like to wear his harness and he is only allowed to free climb on the small wall,

April 13, 2008
KJ: “Bye Troy & Man!” {comments to Dusty – “I don’t know that other guys name.”}

Kiana: {in reference to her next orthodontist appt. when she got her braces off} “Is the first Tuesday in April a Monday?”

{Mom: “huh?”}
{Kiana: giggles…”At least, I used the word DAY and that was right”}

Starlee: “My hair is going to get dry from washing it/blowing it out so much…”
{Jane: Yeah, that’s a bad problem to have SO MANY dates…)

KJ: “Myla! Don’t be mean to me…remember I’m your liddle brother!”

spring break day 2

April 13, 2008

Ogden, Utah
Myla was my very own personal alarm clock this morning. She woke up at “3:58” to make sure when I woke up at 4:00am, I didn’t get ready and leave without her. The original plan was for her to stay home and go to her outdoor soccer game and hitch a ride to Ogden later in the day with Danny. But, remembering, that Kiana and I went indoor surfing in Ogden without her last time, she was adamant that I was not leaving without her and she was NOT going to stay home for her game.

Kiana/Jr. Company competed this morning at the “L.A. Dance” Competition. They have 5 team dances now, and I have not shown the new one “Christian’s dance”

for Kiana’s braces! She got them off this morning and I surprised her with a caramel apple to celebrate. We also went to IHOP for breakfast before going to school.

I’ve been very impressed with our orthodontist. I was curious as to why kids start braces so much earlier these days when Kiana originally went in for her consultation. The main reason being, a child’s jaw is still partial cartilage till they are 11 when it fully turns to bone. If you can get as many adult teeth lined up straight before that age, then the jaw will keep them in place after that. Unlike me, who had braces later and when I didn’t have/wear a retainer at night for most my early adult life my teeth shifted.
