dusty’s niece lisa davis and her fiance’ matt atkin started their life together this past weekend and we were so thrilled to share in their excitement during the ceremony and celebration.

sela was lisa and matt’s flower girl! sela loved wearing the dress, being barefoot, and performed her duties beautifully. although, she did not drop any flowers. there was a moment, while sela was walking down the aisle that she really contemplated dropping one or kissing it, but in the end she chose not to drop any. they all remained in her basket, the entire night!

our kids had their last day of school on friday, may 22nd. we picked them up from school at noon and headed to vegas!

we had a family wedding to attend in boulder city this weekend, and our darling niece dani hooked us up with a sweet deal where she works – the green valley ranch. we had a fantastic, spacious room and 50% off all of our food, love good deals. thank you very much D!

our family had a very needed, relaxing, weekend in the sun. there is nothing better than uninterrupted family time. we loved their pool. it had this awesome beach section full of sand that molded into the regular pool.

.....

was the theme for our kids school spring program this past week.

kj is such a funny kid. oh my my. We can’t help but smile when we think about him. Dusty and I continually caught glimpses at each other across the row of seats in the audience {sela and grandma between us} as we laughed at this little guy. He is so NOT interested in performing. NOT at ALL. maybe my three girls sucked every performing gene out of me because kj missed the boat!

maybe he yawned way more than he sang. so, it’s only appropriate to share this picture-{hehe!}
myla’s class did awesome! they each dressed up in different costumes to represent the different nationalities and cultures that make America what it is.

may day fishing

May 2, 2009

I remember “may day” as a kid in Washington state, my grandpa would help me make little bouquets of flowers, he was an amazing gardener. I would leave the bouquets on the neighbors doorsteps, ring the doorbell and run. Did anyone else ever do this? Door-ditching and leaving flowers even got me in our local paper one year, just for keeping the tradition alive…

This year, I spent my “may day” fishing with my girl. Kiana’s 5th grade teacher is a fishing enthusiast. They have been planning a fishing field trip to Deer Creek Reservoir, but with all the rain and snow melt the fishing conditions there are less than ideal. So, one of the boys in the class,

a baby boy was born 6 years ago. The Jedi Council named him KJ, and he was strong with force. In the years that followed his birth, young KJ has been learning the powers of the Jedi. Now the galaxy is in turmoil because the Sith have learned of the boy and seek him. To overcome this threat, KJ will need the help of others- so a call is being sent out for brave younglings to come and learn the ways of the Force. Rhodes family and friends, you have been chosen to join forces with padawan KJ and the Jedi order to stop the evil Sith! These new Jedi must be trained. The Jedi training will be disguised as a b-day party so the Sith will hopefully not learn of our plans.
