i am spotting a lot of black and white stripes in our life. stripes in our clothing, accessories, when we go south of the border, at our doorstep, in the kids’ toys, in our crafts. more than ever before. we’ve always been fans of stripes, but this past year the trend has erupted!

especially with miss five. she is the queen of stripes. she made herself that flag just this last weekend.

kiana’s birthday was yesterday. she’s 14.  i can’t wait till she’s sixteen, because we really need another driver in our family.  i feel like kiana has always been years ahead of her age, so she should be twenty.  yet, the idea that i only get her at home for four more years just breaks my heart. so, i’m happy to accept fourteen and the fact that it looks really good on her.

to celebrate, i planned a simple family breakfast. i realized as i downloaded the pictures i was obviously obsessed with the decor because i didn’t take any pictures of the food or our family, minus two pictures of kiana. for breakfast we had whole wheat crepes,

flashback friday

January 13, 2012

it has been a few months since i’ve written a flashback friday.

our recent trip to nyc inspired this post, here’s why:

in august of 2006, i was eight months pregnant with sela. husband and i wanted to do something special with our big girls before the new baby arrived so we found a sitter for kj and took them to nyc.

one morning we were having a quick bite to eat at jamba juice in times square,
and i snapped this picture:

{look how little my girlies were!}

two weeks ago, we revisited this same spot so we could re-shoot the same picture:

{moosey was not in the best smiling-mood.

{part 1 here.}

more pictures from our nyc trip.

we spent Dec. 30th – January 1st in nyc. this was our first time to drive there from boston & we are totally hooked. from our front door to our hotel, it was 3 hours. + the most beautiful drive through connecticut. the best part of this trip: it was the first time for kj & sela to see the big apple! so, we did as many of the kid-friendly-must-see sights as possible in three days!

the only downer: husband rear-ended a guy five minutes after we pulled into the city. then, when we parked in little italy to have lunch at one of our favorite pizza stops,

a web of love.

January 10, 2012

thank you for the birthday greetings & wishes! my day was filled with family, friends, and lots of good food!

to my surprise, i woke up* to our bedroom filled with a web of streamers! check this out:

the streamers & balloons were my daughters idea – but husband had to do the work! he worked 12:30-2:30am to get this all done! on instagram he said,

here’s some friendly advice:
1) putting tons of streamers up in pitch dark is extremely hard and probably quite amusing to someone watching! #decoratingfordummies
and 2) DON’T start by putting your lowest streamer up first #soreback

the tiara was sela’s idea!
