to a home run hitter.

that’s right.

my baby hit it out of the park tonight at his softball game.

his first one, ever.

his buddy casey said, “Hey Ump… are you sure that didn’t roll under the fence?

he was being pretty humble about the entire spectacular-ness and his other buddy Sam said, “dude, I’d be texting all my buddies and telling them!”

hehe. no texts were sent.

instead, his wifey is blogging about it!

love my big papi.

i am so proud.

our kids had their last day of school on friday, may 22nd. we picked them up from school at noon and headed to vegas!

we had a family wedding to attend in boulder city this weekend, and our darling niece dani hooked us up with a sweet deal where she works – the green valley ranch. we had a fantastic, spacious room and 50% off all of our food, love good deals. thank you very much D!

our family had a very needed, relaxing, weekend in the sun. there is nothing better than uninterrupted family time. we loved their pool. it had this awesome beach section full of sand that molded into the regular pool.

a baby boy was born 6 years ago. The Jedi Council named him KJ, and he was strong with force. In the years that followed his birth, young KJ has been learning the powers of the Jedi. Now the galaxy is in turmoil because the Sith have learned of the boy and seek him. To overcome this threat, KJ will need the help of others- so a call is being sent out for brave younglings to come and learn the ways of the Force. Rhodes family and friends, you have been chosen to join forces with padawan KJ and the Jedi order to stop the evil Sith! These new Jedi must be trained. The Jedi training will be disguised as a b-day party so the Sith will hopefully not learn of our plans.

easter

April 13, 2009

was beautiful.

we attended church services with our friends at Christ evangelical, Myla still continues calling it the “rockband” church. The kids were convinced the easter bunny was not coming, so they were thrilled when baskets and eggs appeared on the back porch in the afternoon. We had a delicious family dinner, and some of us took naps all afternoon. Seriously, could it be any better? {we are all now getting to bed at 1am, due to naps!}
The easter bunny, instead of sending the kids on their traditional scavenger hunt twisted things up a bit this year. They each had a colored basket and their eggs were color-coordinated depending on the child…Kiana was green,

easter eggs

April 6, 2009
Big papi returned home from the big dance just in time
to dye easter eggs…

sparkles couldn’t wait for deviled eggs, she ate hers while she decorated them!
{sometimes with the shell-ewww!}

the finished eggs-
mine/Kiana’s

Myla’s/KJ’s

the post egg decorating snack…

this is an excellent snack/meal for no-sugar dieters!

if you don’t have a cake-decorator and/or deviled yoke decorator, use a Ziploc bag to squeeze the yokes back in. I use a Ziploc bag when I’m feeling lazy and don’t want to wash the extra dishes.

but he had plenty of people to dance with {72,000 actually}, including this guy-

Dusty & Tark the Sharkwho is Tark, you ask? It might be Dusty’s favorite basketball coach EVER

Dusty, “Coach Tark…Best championship ever 1990. I’m from Vegas baby!”

{Tark smiled}

Dusty then hit him up for the pic…what a smooth talker.

*Dusty claims five different people he didn’t know gave him a high five after getting the pic.
