cabo submarine

December 28, 2011

our family has been traveling to mexico, on a regular basis for nine years.  i’m guessing a dozen trips, split between mazatlan and cabo – and, our friends the Blands have gone on almost every one of those trips with us. it’s ideal with our kids all being such good friends. needless to say, mexico is truly a home away from home. for most of those nine years, we have done the same old things, on every trip.  we’re in a south of the border rut.

however, this past trip we shook things up and tried a couple of new things…  call us wild & crazy!

first, we ventured over to the gorgeous cabo marina, and we took an underwater adventure on the cabo submarine!

did you know i am married to a red sox fanatic? {is there a club or support group for wives like me?!?} did you know we spent years talking & dreaming about living out east? did you know we finally made the big move? did you know we uprooted our family of six that was born & raised out west and moved to Boston so we could be closer to the sox? sounds crazy, right? it’s totally true.

most of our adventures since moving to boston in july of 2011 can be found right here on see jane blog. recently, husband and i decided it would be fun to give him his own space here to write about his beloved sox.

for the past week we have been in cabo san lucas.

if you have followed this blog for a while, you already know our family is a fan of mexico…
{see here, and here}

and, i am obsessed with instagram. an iPhone photo/social network app.

…my friend caroline from the armelle blog sent me an email a month ago sharing information about followgram. she also included a link to decor8’s post that included the following information:

“Do you use Instagram? If so, Followgram is an excellent companion.

santa arrived early at our home this year.

{ten days early!}

he’s super-magical like that…
{kudos to his insane little elves that made it happen!}

we went out for a festive family dinner & returned to this lil note from mr. bean, stating,

“open your christmas jammies tonight! santa wants to come early!”

without a moments hesitation, these lil munchkins prepared everything…

i should break out my tripod for moments like this, but that is just too much work – so please forgive the awful photo quality… i like them this way.

how do you feel about the tradition of christmas cards? a lost art? you’ve never sent one? you always send one?

i’m having an inner battle with the expense and time involved. i adore christmas cards – i have a preparing/addressing/stamping party of one when i’m preparing ours.

but, this year, we have maybe received 40-50… and, i sent almost 300.

should i stop? is it not-green to be doing so?
{my envelopes & washi tape from here andhere, personalized stamper from here.}

regardless, i still enjoy the tradition.  and, if you are not on our mailing list –

December 20, 2011

i would like to write this post & simmer down my passion for such events. because, to be honest – most of the rhodes family excluding myself are pretty darn awful at ice skating. husband and i managed to keep sela safe for one full lap.

…kiana squealed and screamed as she almost kept falling – nearly killed herself while we sweat over the thought of her being hurt for dance. myla and kj voluntarily left the rink after one lap {clinging to the wall & myla took a hard fall on her bum.} both more excited about the cocoa being sold than the ice skating. and, the howell’s all seem to be pros.
