spelt bread

April 3, 2009

rora {my favorite park city gal, right?}

spelt bread comes in many many nasty frozen forms. avoid those at all expense.

I LOVE Prairie Grain’s spelt bread-Locally, I find it at Alberston’s, Macy’s, Good Earth, and occasionally at Wal-Mart. If you are a fan of wheat bread at all, you will LOVE spelt bread and then once you’ve actually tried it, unless your budget gets cut I doubt you will ever look back!

I have two pieces of toasted spelt bread, buttered, every morning for my “second” breakfast. With one cup of sugar-free/decaffeinated mocha-I add three “splenda with fiber” to my cup…It’s uber yummy to dip my toast in the mocha,

to a few sugary questions…

“any tips to help ease the pain at first?”

-I’m not sure if this will help ease the pain, but one point to keep in perspective while “coming off” sugar is that it is HARD! It’s rarely easy. No different than someone addicted to cigarrettes, alcohol, etc. Our bodies crave sugar because we are addicted to it. The biggest step in keeping it easy is to be prepared with meals and snacks. If you don’t have food available, of course it will be MORE difficult because then you are starving yourself! You still need the calories, and a limited amount of good carbs to lose weight! Make your calories count.

by most standards, I really haven’t been too bad…

but,

by my standards…I’ve been a very, very bad girl.

So, starting today I am DONE with sugar. again.

100% DONE.

I have a friend, and we are going to be each other’s motivation in this, it’s too hard to go it alone. anyone else want to join us? I’m thinking at least 3 months, noooo sugar {except holidays.}

time to get reaady for SWIMSUIT season!

a change of pace

November 29, 2008

I have been doing the same work-out for the past five years with additional side sports/extra outdoorsy activities now and then.
Like indoor soccer.
Well, my sweet husband has been expelled from our indoor soccer building for one year…so the family activity of playing indoor soccer is going to be put on hold for a time, for me and the hubby.
Not the kids.
And since I’ve been doing the same old thing for SO long now, it was time for some change…

I have joined the world of pilates, and I am loving it! Two of my friends had talked about this great pilates studio and my one friend Lu has been raving about it for like a year!

low-carb snacks

April 24, 2008

This is so yummy! My dear friend Susan Bland {a.k.a. Spicy} told me about her latest greatest snack, and it’s this –

Apple cinnamon rice cakes & Almond Butter. The first night I made it, I used peanut butter because I am a BIG peanut butter fan and because I didn’t have any almond butter. I have since bought almond butter and even being prejudice to peanut butter, I must admit, the almond butter is very yummy and has 0 sodium compared to peanut butters high sodium, otherwise, the nutritional content between the two are identical.
Also, a favorite stand-by for me is – corn nuts…but I’ve been told it’s common for people to break a tooth chewing them,

Jane’s workout

April 19, 2008

A few people have inquired lately,
Where do you work-out?
What do you do?
What’s your Ab work-out? (Reagan – GTU)

Here it goes – I work-out at home. For a few reasons,
1-I am unsatisfied with the childcare that most gyms offer
2-I don’t want to schedule the time driving to/from the gym
3-I tend to believe most elliptical machines at the gym are either too easy or they don’t have one that offers arm movement.
4-I am frustrated when my headphones or the audio equipment for the TVs don’t work well
5-I can’t always change the channel on the TVs to what I want to watch/etc. And, I value my TV time.
