back to the weekend…

ah, the weekend. where much crafting is mandatory.
if your kids are ever bored and climbing the walls,
might i suggest the ever stimulating craft escape…

voila:

happy, little crafters!

warning: a couple months ago, sela woke up one sunday morning, and started crafting without supervision. everyone else was following strict sunday morning sleeping-in protocol. when we woke up, we found she had entered the pantry, very quietly opened all the paint supplies, and thoroughly painted every tile square on the pantry floor.

including a few in the kitchen, and a small trail of paint to the mudroom bathroom,

i finally started nighttime potty-training with sela.
with our first three kids, i did daytime/nighttime at the same time.

but, with sela, we were lazy. we are older & lazier parents.
we purchased pull-ups and let her have an extra year to grow
before trying the all-dreaded night time potty training.

to motivate her, we made a stop at the toy store and stocked up on some
adorable new toys that she would earn each night when she woke up
with a dry bed.

as usual,
we, the parents, were more worried than needed to be.

go!!!

my kids are always racing.
kj’s famous last words, “last one there is a rotten egg!” as he has already
taken off running…

they race to answer the door when the doorbell rings.
they race to get the mail… everywhere. they race.

our latest race..
as we pull into our driveway,
they yell at me to “stop!!!!”

they all bail out of the suv.
line-up on the driveway,
and race down our driveway, around the corner, into the garage,

flashback friday

July 30, 2010
i take you back to the spring of 1997.

husband and i we were visiting new zealand,
and acquainting ourselves with his incredible maori lineage.

dusty & i had been married almost 18 months.

we were madly in love, traveling the globe, and were constantly taking huge leaps of faith with how many challenges we had stacked against us at the time.

each of those leaps and challenges, bonded us.

created a deeper love.

one such leap, a literal jump…

had us grasping into one another with white knuckles we were both so scared.

husband and i agree, we would not have wanted to jump alone.

.....

during kiana’s week at nuvo, after her long, exhausting days of dance…

we would get in our pj’s at bedtime,
and watch episode after episode from season one of glee.

total girl time.

we watched about 16 episodes in three days, and we’re sooo hooked.

it’s KILLING us that the second volume of season one is not available on dvd till…

SEPTEMBER 14th!!!

my favorite glee song so far is this, totally inspired by my husbands red sox obsession. in case you don’t know, the red sox have a song.

our big papi had a great father’s day!
we slept in, had a yummy lunch, laid by the pool, watched movies, played games with the kids, and had a yummy dinner. and, we pretty much snuggled all day.

kiana, myla, kj, and sela all spoiled papi with gifts. this year, kiana and myla used their very own money {saved allowance, etc.} to buy their papi’s gifts. i was so impressed, and i think they loved the shopping all the more since they were really buying the gifts! kiana chose a new ‘balance opposites ruca shirt.’ myla chose the patriotic Boston hat Dusty is wearing…

fyi: we call him big papi, for one main reason.
