friends & family

December 28, 2008

are one of the truest reasons to celebrate the holidays.
we so enjoy visits from people we have not seen in a long time!

Lucky for us, we have had a few this week!

Troy & Kajsa stopped by and spent an evening with us on the town- so great to see them and how we wish they lived closer!{our eyes are a bit glossy, since we had just shed a couple tears during “seven pounds”}

Dusty’s niece Amber {with whom he shares the same birthday,} her husband Ryan and new baby girl stopped in to stay the night and have breakfast with us! LOVE you all!

My mom’s birthday is december 8th, and our family is not going to be here to spend the day with her to celebrate because we are packed and headed to Mexico for a while…

So, we spent the past few days celebrating grandma’s birthday!

My niece Heather and her baby girl Lilly, my mom’s friend Carol and I took her to lunch this past week at Chef’s table, one of her favorite restaurants…
The next evening, Myla and grandma went to the mall for manicures & pedicures then a stop for ice cream…

Then today we had a little surprise party for her!!happy birthday mom!

My Mom {Patricia Thaanum}, who lives in our guest house…
my brother {technically half-brother}, his daughter & son Heather & Wil {my niece & nephew}, Heather’s husband Byron, and their baby girl Lilly all reside in Salt Lake City.

Byron, Heather, Lilly, Wil, Sela, Kiana, my Mom, Myla, John, me, KJ, and Dustywe had a yummy dinner and then went gingerbread crazy!
We made gingerbread houses, trains, people, trees…
Heather made a pomander, and Kiana got the idea to make an orange snowman!

grandparents day…

November 6, 2008

It was grandparents day at Ivy Hall Academy today. Our kids were so lucky to have the one grandma and the one grandpa they have in attendance. We are so lucky to be a close-knit family that spends so much time together. Even when we aren’t together we still keep in contact. I was even thinking of getting something like this easy cell phone for elderly people, to make keeping in a contact a lot easier as well, as I know that my Papa sometimes struggles with using his phone (although he would never admit to it). I recently took Papa to get his portrait done after finding some really good senior portraits Austin examples online.
