a summer to remember…

September 5, 2011

we are navigating this new ‘move to boston’ adventure of ours with no map, which is really the best part.

there is freedom in the fact that we have no plan. we have a long list of “would like to do’s!”

we didn’t know anyone here. we don’t know how long we plan on staying – and, we have no idea where we’ll go from here. so far, we haven’t hooked up our tv’s, and this simplicity has forced us to all center our attention on one another. it’s glorious.

very simple chores/events like going to the laundromat when we were in hotels for so long + washing our own cars till we found local car washes + daily indoor picnics on our family room floor while we didn’t have any furniture…

homeless in boston.

our family spent much of the summer *scattered all-over the world. when kiana and i headed to nyc for dance nationals, we were there almost two weeks before we took a train to boston to continue our house search. husband went to the philippines for a three week work trip. sela, kj, and myla headed off to southern nevada with family. these younger three spent time jumping between auntie’s and uncles homes, then eventually their aunt nancy drove them across the country in my suv to meet up with kiana and i in boston. {best aunt ever, eh?}

the week kiana and i were house-hunting i put an application in on the second home we tried to get here.

nyc in an instagram.

…at the end of june & early july, kiana and i spent ten days in nyc, for her 2011 nycda dance nationals.

we stayed in a nice hotel squished right between times square and central park. it was a great location.

before i go any farther, let me say… i have a new-love. instagram. it’s an app you can get on the iphone {and other phones, but i don’t know which ones.} that allows you to take your phone photos, then tweak them into great little pieces of retro film art. you can also choose to share those photos on facebook, twitter, etc etc. it’s crazy-incredible! and, it’s fun to follow friends via creative pictures on a daily basis.

i have claimed utah as my home since i was thirteen. the same age as my oldest daughter, this very summer. i have lived in-and-out of utah for twenty-two years. i was born in alaska & “grew-up” in a small northwest town on the coast of washington state, but have spent most of my time in the shadows of what is known as the wasatch front.

so, without knowing how long i am bidding farewell to all that i love along the wasatch front, i made sure to take every possible chance to say farewell to those we love, before leaving…

i wrote my first post… oh my.

sometimes i can’t believe how much i love blogging…{and design.}
or that i am still blogging…

i know that there are other bloggers who feel the same as me… how has it gone so quickly.

if you are thinking of blogging, or have recently started then this is something which you will soon see as well. don’t forget though that if you are starting blogging, that you know how to stay safe online (you can take a look at this article here: websafetyadvice.com)

i also can’t believe how much my kids have grown since my first post. i constantly find myself looking through the pictures,
