love in a pan…

December 1, 2010

is what we call it.
there are other names for it…
but we’re keeping it clean here, folks.
we’re raising kids.

whatever it’s called,
it was kiana’s contribution to thanksgiving dinner,
and it was delicious!

{i just love that miss twelve loves to bake!}

recipe:

  • use one devil’s food cake mix
    – mix/bake according to package directions
  • let cool
  • puncture the cake with holes, all-over, using a straw or chopstick works best.
  • pour one can of sweetened condensed milk over the cake.
  • frost with cool whip
  • sprinkle with crushed skor bar over the top.

cake pops

November 5, 2010

i wanted to do something new for myla’s halloween class party last week.
i was in charge of the drink/treat…

so, i chose cake pops.
i used this recipe,
and they were a huge success!

i made 130 cake pops the night before,
and froze them in the freezer over night.

{my kids made a few at home as a trial run & they loved it!}

in class, i used my crock pot to melt the chocolate, it took about 30 minutes,
and melted really well. and, the consistency lasted for the hour+ the kids
were making the cake pops.

.....

but, it’s beautiful chaos…

over labor-day weekend,

we met up with friends for some campfire time.
{you can see more pics here}
our favorite campfire treat totally trumps a s’more!
we make banana boats
that are deeelishious!

recipe:

take a banana, leave the peel on, and slice it right down the middle.
place in foil, fill the banana with chocolate and marshmallows
wrap it up in the foil,
place it in the campfire
and a few minutes later…

i was asked to bring fruit this year. due to the large supply of oranges i currently have, i had the idea to turn my oranges into little fruit bowls.
