home sweet home – boston edition.

the “third is a charm” home we applied for & are living in…is a big old updated colonial home built in 1861, we actually have a plaque by the front door honoring the home from our town. do the math: it is 150 years old this year!

the home is full of natural light, three-and-a-half baths, eight – yes – count ’em – 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 BEDROOMS, lots of parking space, the most darling-ever tree swing in our front yard. and in our price range…which is the best part. although technically i think the best part is that it is right next to the best park in town which also boasts the most amazing playground i’ve ever seen.

our family spent much of the summer *scattered all-over the world. when kiana and i headed to nyc for dance nationals, we were there almost two weeks before we took a train to boston to continue our house search. husband went to the philippines for a three week work trip. sela, kj, and myla headed off to southern nevada with family. these younger three spent time jumping between auntie’s and uncles homes, then eventually their aunt nancy drove them across the country in my suv to meet up with kiana and i in boston. {best aunt ever, eh?}

the week kiana and i were house-hunting i put an application in on the second home we tried to get here.

oh man, these kids were hard to say good-bye to… in fact, i may have given them more farewell hugs than even kiana did. for years, these girls & guys have hung out at our house – quite often i sit only a room away laughing almost as hard as they do at how crazy funny they are. for the past few summers, i’ve had them running through my kitchen on summer nights during night games – they play with all of our younger kids just like they were their own siblings… in fact, you can see myla on the front row snuggled up with one of our favorites – cayman. and, without a second thought i love each of these kids as if they are my own.

sela’s going-away party! sela requested “mustard yellow” which happens to be one of her favorite colors – and then when we were buying treats/etc. she kept saying “mustard yellow….AND PINK!” totally fits this baby girl of mine.

how cute are all these little girls? omgosh, killer. all those swimsuit ruffles!

this party was fun for all my kids because each bestie of mine who has a miss four-five, has older kids who are also buddies with my older kids, so everyone had fun – again!

myla-moosey’s party!!!

the four amigos. cason – 12, kj – 8, brevin – almost 10, and myla – 11-and-a-half. you would think they would be buddies by the oldest two and the younger two… but, no. cason – twelve hangs out with kj – eight because they are the gamers… and brevin – 10 hangs out with myla – almost 12, because they are the quirky little athletes. i cherish these cuties.

each of our kids had a swimming-going-away-party at our home with their friends. we used a color-theme for each party, and kept things really simple. kj wanted his party to have lots of color + a swim theme, so we made mini-gummy-candy-kabobs using swedish fish, and orange peach circles as floaties + beachy cupcakes + pizza + colorful popsicles… it turned out really cute & was so quick to prepare for.

these boys were crazy! i lined them up for this picture & without me knowing they planned to all jump in the pool on “2” when i said, “ok, 1…2…3… say cheese!” everyone jumped in the pool on 2! so, we did a re-take and they were good!
