two words: the cape.

September 26, 2011

i continued my little adventures with these two. after nahant beach, we took a day trip to the cape. that’s what the locals call ‘cape cod.’

it’s a 90-minute drive from our house, with literally dozens of beaches to choose from. for our first time there, we chose ‘craigville beach,’ and i promised the kiddos we’d stay all day till sunset. this is more of what i imagine the hamptons to be like, not to offend either one, because i haven’t been to the hamptons yet – i loved all the umbrellas spotting the beach.

my little beach man was instantly in the water with his boogie board.

he’s not such a fan of craigville,

…thanks to katie {again!!!} we discovered nahant beach.
it takes thirty minutes to drive from our front door to this sun-loved-destination.

do you know what i love best about a good beach?

when my toes are in the sand, and the sun is hot on my skin, i feel still and peaceful and so very carefree. it’s good…that thoughtless state of relaxation that must come periodically to recharge our senses.

my little beach-lovin’-son really likes this place,
i could listen to him and my girls laughing in the salt air,

boston children’s museum

September 15, 2011

while kiana was at girls camp & myla was in the philippines with big papi…  these two munchkins and i played-played-played.  i literally just stopped unpacking & simply enjoyed summer for a few days.  it was so nice.

first stop:  the boston chidren’s museum.

this museum sits right downtown on the boston harbor, and has so much to offer, we also chose year memberships so we can re-visit over and over again.

a few of the highlights:

first day of school in bahston.

September 14, 2011

i love new challenges, starting lines, monday mornings, knowing there’s room for bigger and better.

…exciting in that first-day-of-school kind of way. when the pencils are freshly sharpened, the backpack is organized and the notebooks are waiting to be filled —

it’s called potential, and i like it.

my kiddos are standing at the front of the line for huge potential this year, and already i’ve witnessed their growth.  they are constantly treading outside of their comfort zones.  and, that.  that is pushing them to succeed.

we have had some very cool surprises while preparing to go to school here. for example, kiana considered taking a year off of dance to have more time available to take classes in photoshop/design –

museum of science

September 12, 2011

the museum of science sits right over the charles river in boston.

it’s hu-mongous, and filled with endless exhibits to entertain kids, and adults. we made our first visit in july, and purchased a family membership for the year. so, we will be returning many, many, many times.

lately i’ve been thinking about all the planning, and work that has gone in to our little “bahston” adventure…

and i am exhausted thinking about it! ::smiles::

no, really. i think about how my friend jennifer said recenlty, “nothing worthwhile in life comes easy.

we started planning this “adventure” at least 18 months ago –

For some devout fanatics it is a life time goal to worship at Mecca. I’ve heard stories of Muslims traveling for weeks to kneel to the East in prayer in this sacred city. July 28th was that day for us… of course I’d been to Mecca many times but never with my entire family.

Our trip started hours before on the internet where we watched StubHub faithfully for the impending ticket prices slashed because of the rain. Shortly before they closed the sales it happened and we were able to get all 6 of us within 4 rows of the field just behind the on deck circle for the price that it normally costs for 1.
