the Throwdown showdown

September 27, 2008

This was a first.
for me.

We went to the UVU McKay Events Center tonight for
THROWDOWN’s showdown –
a full card of fights…

THROWDOWN is a new gym in town,
specializes in mixed martial arts {MMA}…

I really wasn’t very interested in going, but figured I would and if it became too gross, I would leave…

Now that the evening is over,
I think it was less action than I expected.
Very controlled fighting.
Nothing too gruesome.

and, we were with great friends!

more Las Vegas…

September 25, 2008

After non-stop sightseeing with Alson & Myla,
Dusty and I hung around Vegas for a few more days,
just us.

We have not had time alone, in about a year,
so it was very nice.

We moved from Mandalay Bay over to the new “Palms Place,” at the Palms.

I loved our contemporary room.Many of the hotels are renovating to a newer sleek contemporary feel, and I just love it.

We discovered a killer restaurant at the top of Palms Place called, “Simon.”
Simon has a perfect niche on American food, homestyle and mmm… after our first meal there I wanted to eat every meal there!

.....

Dusty swore repeatedly, “I am never going to play soccer…”

Till I begged and begged him to try it…

Stacked the team with great players {check}
Custom designed sweet jerseys {check}
New cleats, shin guards, and goalie gloves {check}
because he said, “I won’t get hurt being goalie…”
kicked butt at his first game {check}
Enjoyed every minute of it {check, check!}

Congratulations to the mighty fine DIRTY STARS!
Their FIRST game, and FIRST win!
10 – 7
This was a first-time attempt at soccer for Dusty,

…with Alson’s Sportswear and family…

{January 1994}
Dusty and his best friend Paul (childhood friends & roommates at SUU) go to the Philippines to find the factory that made the shorts that Paul brought Dusty home from his mission. With a little money in their pockets and big dreams of buying and selling NBA apparel they embarked. This is a picture taken of them leaving Las Vegas for Manila.
They went directly to the factory and made the deal for some Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns and various other apparel. They met Myla and Alson and began not only their business but a friendship that has lasted to this day and which is responsible for Dusty’s successful business…

The team didn’t have enough players today, so KJ was asked to play – he was THRILLED! and, he did so good, Coach Daddy decided he will be playing on coach pitch every game from now on!

Big & Little Papi!
Earlier this week, it was bedtime and KJ was lying between Dusty & I in our bed. As KJ said, “Good night Big Papi,”
he added: “I want to be called Little Papi.”
