reader question…

somewhere in thyme asked {last february – yikes!},

“Jane, I read your diet and have a ?, you never mention any dairy products, do you just not eat them?”

***

i definitely eat diary products. milk and other dairy products have a certain amount of lactose (milk sugar}, but they are a very important part of a diet. especially for women and having strong bones as we age. lactose is a good-carb, you want to include one or two small servings in your daily carbohydrate count. i keep them in moderation.

{this reader question is from last march!!! so sorry about the delay!!!}

hi, i’ve just recently come across your delightful blog and well today i noticed your diet, so i’m wondering if you could give me advice?

i’ve dieted in the past and usually just do the fruit, veggies, yogurt, special k thing. well my mom bought me a low carb book much like atkins. it’s hard because its totally opposite of what i’ve been doing! no milk, fruits, yogurt, cereal. i get six servings of carbs & 15 grams of sugar… this book is telling me to eat cheese, mayo, sausage, ect. things i’m not use to eating when trying to lose weight!

i believe in good health. exercise. a balanced diet.

but, on top of all that, i also believe in a great multi-vitamin. no matter what your age. my kids take vitamins. i take vitamins. my husband takes vitamins. when i’m pregnant i take all kinds of extra vitamins. A friend’s told me about lectin recently and that makes me want a few more.

and, i passionately believe we are more healthy because of this. I really do believe that vitamins and minerals are really important for your body. I have a few friends who get low iron levels which is caused by low phosphate. There are many treatments that they can take but they should also be careful.

Roman Catholics may also observe Lent in this way in addition to the dietary restrictions outlined above, though observation is no longer mandatory under the threat of mortal sin. Many Christians who choose not to follow the dietary restrictions cite 1 Timothy 4:1-5 which warns of doctrines that “forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods,

i was pretty excited & motivated by the responses i received today to my ‘february blues’ post. a little part of me would love to be a personal trainer and/or nutritionist, and i get so thrilled to hear of anyone’s recent commitment to a healthier lifestyle.

also, daphne & i paid a visit to my dear sara, matt, & bronson today. nothing like a visit to the pediatric intensive care unit {PICU} to continue to humble me.

everyone has a story there. everyone is making sacrifices there.

one conversation i had with sara today was about ‘
