Bahama Mama’s

January 15, 2008

Pure bliss. Daphne and I relaxed (an abundance of sleep), soaked up the sun (minor sunburns), worked out (2 a days on some), visited the spa (maybe indulged more than we should have), read (finished 2+ novels each), enjoyed live music (bahamian style), ate delicious food (especially the seafood). We have definitely started something that could be a yearly tradition!

This is Grand Bahama Island a.k.a. Freeport City as we were flying in. It is the closest island to Florida in the Bahamas, only 55 miles off the coast.
We found a little corner of the resort that was ours each day, between the infinity pool and beach, our little solitude.

Rhodes & the Wall’s – thanks for dinner! A friend of a friend just opened this cozy/contemporary pizzeria in Orem’s Midtown Village – It is mouth-watering good! They have 3 appetizers…as they say, “a little something” that I recommend in this order… short ribs, sweet potatoes, and the 3 cheese macaroni. Then go for anything else on the menu! Let me know if you go there, I’d love to hear about it! We seriously ordered & shared half the entire menu tonight and you can’t go wrong. fyi: “seven twelve” is the temperature of the brick oven for baking.

* Britney, I will be waiting to see the “Wall” Blog!!!

KJ was SO excited for the party all day, he was super chatty about the balloons, friends, food…he just couldn’t WAIT!Dinner this year was a Mexican themed potluck, thank you to EVERYONE who brought delicious food! Caryn made these super yummy Brisa’s – they were blended together with vanilla ice cream, ice, frozen blackberries & straweberries, Sprite, topped with whipped creme & a blackberry – they were really yummy! We just love our New Year’s masks/etc…We had so much fun taking pictures, dressing up – you would have thought we were a bunch of little 14 year olds with our first digital cameras, not a bunch of 30-somethings.

I thought it would be fun for the kids to swim in the winter…

so…Dusty & Danny started shoveling, sweeping, breaking ice, shoveling, sweeping, breaking ice, shoveling, sweeping, and once again shoveling snow OFF the pool yesterday. They then had to unfreeze a hose by running hot water through it for about an hour, work some magic to get the pump/heater running and then 24+ hours later the pool heated from a cold 49 degrees to a very toasty 99 degrees.

This is going to be a BIG post, I have lots of pictures and I know we didn’t have many cameras there today…including mine. My pictures are from Janette Duckworth & Shannon Taylor’s cameras, thank you! I know that many people/families plan on copying these.

As far as the tubing goes, it was a blast and a beautiful day! Thank you to everyone who went – we love you all!
