thanksgiving 2011

December 12, 2011

…i had attempted to get most of the cooking/baking done the day before so i could enjoy the festivities with our gang.

we started the day at our local high school football game.

wellesley vs. needham
this is the oldest h.s. rivalry in the nation!
is that so cool?!?

sadly, we lost…

but, clearly, we still had fun!
look at all of us cheeeeesin:

we have this tradition that on thanksgiving,
we have “snacks” for lunch –
crackers, deli meat, cheese, veggies, pickles, fruit, dips…

and then –

no lie! this might be one of the most beautiful places, on earth.

“elm bank reservation”

thank you google maps for this aerial view
{used my little ‘screen shot’ feature on my mac for this, so don’t judge the photo quality!} —

last week kj started lacrosse & flag football; myla started lacrosse & field hockey all through a local kids club.
the classes are taught at ‘elm bank reservation.’

we made the slow drive around the reservation,

the cougars are out!

last weekend, we kicked off the BYU football season by attending the
first home game. i would much rather go to a game now than when it’s snowing! we doubled with dusty’s nephew travis & his wife margaret, whom are two of our favorite people. if you haven’t met margaret yet, you need to hustle on over to bonbon and get to know her!

i’ll admit, i’m not a die-hard byu football fan, in general, not too much of a football fan at all. BUT i married a college football player! i struggle at times with FOUR HOUR+ games driven by testosterone.

a little bit of history on Dusty…. He grew up in Southern Nevada, hence, no professional sports teams. As a kid he watched the show and liked Sam Malone {the bartender who was an ex RED SOX pitcher] just enough that he adopted ALL of the Boston teams as his faves…which makes this a pretty great year for him. Which also, in return, makes this a happy year for us, when he’s happy, we’re happy.

But, we are tailgating without Dusty today, he was up at dawn to leave for the Philippines, he didn’t know he booked this trip on Superbowl Sunday and then once he realized it – there was no way to change it…
