Lunch date with daddy

September 28, 2007

Dusty is the ever so popular dad at Kiana & Myla’s elementary school. He guarantees a lunch date with him at least once a week. The girls take turns choosing what he brings to school, but he’s known to show up with an extra bucket of KFC chicken for ALL of their friends! Sometimes if it’s nice weather they go outside and picnic on the school lawn. Today, to change it up a little, KJ and I joined the girls and Daddy and went to the mall for lunch! It was a 30-minute jam-packed lunch with Sbarro pizza, and “Mountain Fun.” We of course HAD to sit at the little tables!

National Halo 3 Day!

September 27, 2007

Sept. 25th finally arrived… KJ woke up on Tuesday morning with sleepy eyes and groggy voice and said, “Dad, today Halo 3 comes out.” Indeed it did… and KJ’s nerd dad was home playing with his son for 2 1/2 hours (don’t tell his boss) when he should have been at work. KJ bought a box of mini crumb donuts and a couple of Diet Cokes and ate ONLY that for the next 9 hours while fighting aliens with his gamer thumbs (parental pride exuded). Later that night his nerd dad went to Jared’s house with Troy, Silver, Jared, Junior, Kyle, Joe, Brent Hek, Nick, and Brent Lloyd (all very responsible adults as you can see) for an allnighter.

Myla is our ultra affectionate/sensitive child, going along with that she is the one prone to hiding out in her bedroom for long periods of time to write all of us notes that she hides around the house for us. I would say 3-5 nights a week Dusty & I get in bed to find notes on our nightstand for one of us. Or we will come home from a date night when Myla is already sleeping and find notes for us. I ABSOLUTELY love it. Kiana, on the other hand, is not as openly affectionate and its very challenging at times for her to reveal that side of herself. This difference has always been a small stress on Kiana and Myla’s relationship,

KJ

September 17, 2007

Every morning as the kids leave for school we have a line-up of good-bye kisses for Sela. But, this morning, KJ is staying home from school with a little cold (cough & strange voice) so as Kiana and Myla were covering Sela with their kisses, I said, “KJ, don’t kiss Sela on the face we don’t want her to catch your cold.” KJ touched Sela’s foot with his hand and said, “Mom, she’s warm.”

I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful it was outside on Sunday morning! With our family all ready for church, I had to seize the moment to get their pictures taken out in the cozy corner of our backyard. And no one was complaining about the suggestion – even more amazing!! I’m a very summertime girl, considering some of my favorite things such as gardening take place during that time of year, but there is certainly something magical that comes with the changing of seasons…
