this week…

November 16, 2008

This past Friday when I picked the kids up from school…

Mom: “KJ, guess what?!?”
KJ: “what?”
Mom: “YOU WON the radio costume contest!”
KJ: {big eyes, mouth drops open in astonishment, pause}
KJ: “THAT is awesome!” {arms in the air}

{I had already explained to him how everyone had to vote from their own home computers, etc. etc…}

KJ: “First I am going to go to Nate’s house, knock on the door and tell them thank you. Then I’m going to go to Tegan’s house and knock on the door and tell them thank you, then Caden’s house…”

{You get the idea, he wants everyone to know he’s very THANKFUL for the votes!

Sela: “Mom-mme, Where’s DayJay?”
me: “he’s at school.”
Sela: “Oh.”
Sela: “Mom-mme, Where’s sissy?” {this is the combo for Kiana and Myla}
me: “sissy’s at school.”
Sela: “Oh.”
Sela: “Mom-mme, Where’s Dad-dde?”
me: “he’s at work.”
Sela: “Oh.”

We have this conversation at least a dozen times a day.

Sela has entered a stage of denial/sadness/screaming that starts when everyone leaves in the morning, It ends when we pick up her DayJay and sissy’s after school…

it’s that time again…

for family pictures…

my adorable and oh-so-so-talented friend Becky took our family pictures a couple of weeks ago…{I totally recommend booking a session with her.}

I love her style and how they turned out.

I had spent the week prior to family pictures trying so desperately to make sure the kids didn’t have any cuts/bruises that would be visible. Then sure enough, the night before our pics at my indoor soccer game I blocked a goal with my lip.
c’est la vie.

Becky’s photo shop skills met the challenge and wha-la, no fat lip is visible!

October 21, 2008

my perfect first born,
{most of the time}

I feel as though I don’t post about Kiana enough.
She doesn’t have as many entertaining mishaps, rarely mis-speaks, and it would be strange to post every time she did something WONDERFUL. She is usually doing exactly what she should be. Where she should be.

But today, I’m going to do one run-down of what life is like with Kiana in our family.

I imagine it must be rough being the first born in any family.

The expectations are so high.
There’s less room and tolerance for messing up.
Yet, Kiana always goes above and beyond…every time, we are so lucky.

.....

that’s how many pieces the Red Sox manager Terry Francona chews
during one game.

can you imagine?

my jaw muscles would just give up and quit working if I even tried to chew that many pieces of gum.

all that chewing, was worth it tonight.

there was dancing, whooping & hollering at the Rhodes home!

everyone chant-
lets go red sox bum-bum bum-bum-bum
