the red sox are celebrating fenway park’s 100th birthday this year. on april 20th we attended the game that was the official party. anyone who has ever played for the sox were invited to return + there was a patriotic-tear-dripping-jets-flying-overhead ceremony for the hour before the game started. it was beautiful. the sox were playing the nyy, and both teams wore vintage uniforms. it was very cool. a day in baseball history to remember. husband and i went with miss fourteen + danny.

before the game started, everyone was given sparkling apple cider to toast to another 100 years at fenway. cheers to our beloved team! there really is something magical about baseball games at fenway.

one – so happy friends from home came to visit – our first stop was lunch here and second lunch here.
two – we spent the evening by the waterfront with dinner here.
three – casey is an ice cream kind of guy, so we finished the night here. {get the banana – homemade & to die for!}
four – we purchased our first scalped tickets & made it into the grandstand for a red sox game!

the boston marathon was last monday, and it was hot. record-breaking hot. my dear friend shannon and her husband casey were staying with us from utah because shannon was running in the marathon.

if you don’t follow national racing news – over 26,000 runners were expected at this years boston marathon. 4,300 of those runners opted to sit-out when the organization encouraged people to defer to next year because of the heat. leaving 22,500 to run. after the race started, things became gloomy as we watched everyone run by – you could tell they were suffering. you could see the mental battle they had to each overcome – the constant choice to quit or finish.

Patriot’s Day

April 16, 2012

today is a holiday i was completely unaware of until we moved to new england. Patriot’s Day. {not to be confused with Patriot Day on Sept. 11} it commemorates the battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775, which were two of the earliest battles in the American Revolutionary War. annually held on the third Monday of April, Patriot’s Day is a state holiday here in Massachusetts and Maine.

the boston marathon is ran on Patriot’s day every year, so it has been nicknamed “marathon monday.” also, the sox have traditionally been scheduled to play at home on this day since ’59. {we had green monster tickets to this game, but sold them because we want to watch the runners!}

so far, since moving to boston everyone has had some sort of mini bedroom makeover. whether that included fresh paint, or paint + a little bit more… i wanted to create a comfy new bedroom for each kiddo. now that kiana has her own space, here is a peek at what we did. i’m totally pleased with how inexpensive this was and how it turned out. And if you wanted to save even more money my friend recommends that you get a new energy quote with Simply Switch.

the bedroom is quite small, plus has a king size bed taking up most of the space! it took me so long to find her the right mattress,

Boston Celtics

April 11, 2012

we finished our easter by checking one more thing off our “while we live in boston – adventures” list!

we attended a boston celtics game at the TD Garden as a family! husband, myla, and i had gone to a game together last month but the other three kiddos hadn’t had the experience yet.

fyi: if you attend a game, pre-game until the end of the 1st quarter there is free face painting near the doors for sections 14-15. they also hand out free shamrock balloons in the same spot!

sela was on the edge of her seat every time the celtics dancers took the floor.
