love in a pan…

December 1, 2010

is what we call it.
there are other names for it…
but we’re keeping it clean here, folks.
we’re raising kids.

whatever it’s called,
it was kiana’s contribution to thanksgiving dinner,
and it was delicious!

{i just love that miss twelve loves to bake!}

recipe:

  • use one devil’s food cake mix
    – mix/bake according to package directions
  • let cool
  • puncture the cake with holes, all-over, using a straw or chopstick works best.
  • pour one can of sweetened condensed milk over the cake.
  • frost with cool whip
  • sprinkle with crushed skor bar over the top.

Thanksgiving

December 1, 2010

…was cold.

like, bitter cold.

we made plans for the annual neighborhood turkey bowl,
but no one showed up.
because, they are all smart and don’t go outside when it’s that cold!
however, we still bundled up and went…
it was our family, and the howell boys’ annual turkey kick ball!

thank goodness for the howell boys.
what, oh what, would we do without them?!?

once playing…we all warmed up and it was awesome.
i love a good game of kick ball.
seriously.
and our kids do too…
we’re all kick ball fans.

however, husband was especially grumpy while i was trying to play and take pictures,

.....

husband and kj are home! they just spent ten days together in the philippines,
and have returned home safely… in the middle of a blizzard here.

plus, it’s thanksgiving…i’m in such a great mood, not even kidding you.

i am thankful…for being happy. truly happy. to the core of my soul.

i am thankful…for passions, and the ability to discover.

i am thankful…for this amazing feeling of peace my heart has found.

i am thankful…for feeling loved. by so many. for knowing, they know me at my best and worst and love me.

i am thankful…for husband. {bet you saw that one coming.} he’s my favorite person ever.

flashback friday…

November 19, 2010
first of all, this is a great example as to why i don’t scrapbook.
i’m ridiculously awful at it!
second, WOW. WE ARE ALL SO YOUNG!

third, i’m pleased to report husband never stuck his
tongue in my ear for any other photo op.

i hope your thanksgiving plans are underway!

.....

smiling.

November 26, 2009
yes, smiling.

because when i start to think of what i’m thankful for,

i smile.

i smile because i think of my husband and how good his soul is.
his determination to make me laugh in my worst of moods,
he is so much more than i ever deserved.

i smile because i think of my oldest daughter who is more and more beautiful everyday, and in so many ways a mini-me in character, and in so many ways constantly teaching me to be better.

i smile because i think of my moosey, her sassy humor, always ready to tell you her leatest joke.

her latest story.
