ziplock omelets

{recipe via sue & irv’s kitchen}

did you know you can make an omelette in ziploc bag? it’s true, my friends. no omlette pan, no flipping, no breaking. just pure and simple egg goodness.

you will need:
* zip-lock bags
* sharpie marker – to write names on the bags for identity.
* 2 eggs per omelet
* your choice of omelet add-ins: ham, cheese, peppers, onions, mushrooms, etc.

set a large pot of water to boil. meanwhile, crack the eggs into the bag, and shake to combine them. put in your ingredients and shake gently to combine.

before placing the bags in the boiling water, make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up. place the bags into boiling water for exactly 16 minutes. you can usually cook 4-6 omelets in a large pot. if cooking more than 4, you may need an additional minute or two.

open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. be prepared to be amazed. the omelets look perfect!

this recipe is excellent for indoors or while camping. it’s an easy way to get a lot of people fed all at once! it’s fun for kids to fill their ziplock bags and mash them up with the ingredients they choose. if you try it, let me know!

happy eating!

  2. Ah, I remember those omelettes from girls’ camp! We called them “baggie breakfasts.” Love it! Your trip looks WONDERFUL Jane. SO glad you could go with your beautiful family. AND so glad that Sela could catch a moth. Maybe she was inspired by a certain man named Jason that I know… 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
