This past October was the first time for the Rhodes family. I never quite knew how I felt about it. I was a fence sitter for 10 years. Does it really help? Will we get the flu that the flu shot is for? We might get another strain anyway… It will be torture for the kids as old as they are to get the shot…lots of bribing on Mama’s part to convince them it won’t hurt, although I know it will..etc.etc.
But, we did it this year. It was 7 flu shots total. 6 humans,
and Sela had to get poked twice because of her age.

Kiana & Myla had to go first and be extra brave because KJ was watching them. They did great. No tears. No grimacing.
They even added, “That was easy, didn’ hurt at all.” so KJ could be brave.
Amazing courage my girls have.

That headache Myla had during Easter evening, after bedtime,
around 1am {she was in bed with mama} turned into
horrible body aches,
worse headache,
fever,
chills,
vomitting{I haven’t decided if I should clean or replace my bedspread},
crying,
stomacheaches,
etc.
etc.
etc.
So much for thinking we were going to skip the flu this year,
It was our most beautiful almost spring-like day so far.
We stayed indoors all day,
on the bed,
rinsing the puke bucket,
wiping her mouth,
giving her Tylenol then Ibuprofen in rotations,
ice pack on her head,
cold water,
saltine crackers,
Pedialyte,
etc.
etc.
Jane’s final opinion: the flu shot sucks.
That is horrible. I’m glad she wasn’t in class. I surely don’t want to take that bug home with me. Give her a hug for me! Hope she is feeling better soon.
And give yourself a hug as well. I know it can be hard as a mother taking care of your little sick ones.
I am so sorry. Mason had it for 3 days last week. Steve got it over the weekend. I am holding my breath with Mikayla and Megan. It’s the worst! I am totally with you on the whole flu shot thing! I hope tomorrow is better for you.
Argh… we hate the flu! I have always wondered if the shots really work and I think you just tipped the scales for me. Get better soon, Myla!

I’ve never had a flu shot and I think this has convinced me to never get one. I hope she starts feeling better soon! I love all your Easter pictures, everyone looks BEAUTIFUL!!! Looks like such a fun day!
Oh know! that really sucks. i hope no one else gets it. we have already had that at our house. not fun! And what was that you said about Chucke Cheeses? maybe she picked up the bug there.:) jk. i hope she feels better soon.

I vote you for President. Those are my EXACT sentiments after all this CRAP with sickness at our house. What a mess… and you know what’s almost even worse, or at least as bad? Health Care Insurance… it is a 3-ring circus! Ugh!
Sorry your sweet girl is sick. That is miserable for everyone and makes being a mom so sad. Good luck isolating her in quarantine… I just hope no one else gets it! I am crossing my fingers for you!
