Back in October my girls both went to Sadie Hawkins. It was while I was on my trip to Italy but I heard all about the fun night via pictures and videos. The tradition here in Utah is that most school dances are held on Saturdays. There is a “day” date and an evening date. The day date usually includes a fun-outdoorsy activity, and maybe breakfast or lunch. Then the teens all go home for the afternoon to get ready for the evening.
In the evening they plan pictures at someone’s home or a location that coordinates with the theme, dinner, dance, and an after-dance activity.
Kiana’s group varied this a little this year – they started their entire date about 3pm and went to a local festival (a festival that one of the guys on the date won $5,000.00 – is that the craziest???), then pictures, dinner, dance, and more after. These seniors are such a great, fun group of kids.
Myla’s group planned ZORB balls in our front yard, they contacted our local zorb balls hire shop and rented a couple – if you saw the video I posted on instagram – these balls are a riot!!! Later in the day they took pictures, made homemade Hawaiian pizzas & pina coladas at our house with the help of Mary Elizabeth Hammond. Then they went to the dance and after watched a movie at another friends house.
I absolutely loved high school dances when I was in high school so it’s so much fun to help my teenagers plan them now.

The pink wall is downtown Provo on University Ave., it’s an old latin market that is no longer open.
