our 2009 christmas card/newsletter

2009- “Rhodes Style”

2009 came and went like Ed Hardy Tee’s, Grandma’s Upset stomach or an In-N-Out high. So with excitement we are moving on with even higher expectations for 2010. Since the Rhodes’ are so dang *competitive we (dad) decided to hand out points to crown a champion of the year.

In 2009, Sela decided to test mom and dad’s resolve with potty training…1 point for Sela {unless you count each time she made us quit- then it would be more like 10-20 points.} She still loves her “pilley” and has especially loved sleepovers at grandma’s {which means a little more sleep in the morning for mom and dad.}

KJ has taken up tennis and has an Agassi like backhand…1 point for KJ. He’s noticed a cute little blonde in his tennis class for whom he tries to show off to. He and his friend have an especially high fondness of camouflage. He’s most often found building a lego set or playing with his army men while singing, “Don’t Worry, about a thing…” by Bob Marley.

Myla has discovered it is better to simply say, “OK dad” rather than fight him on everything…1 point for Myla as she wraps dad tighter and tighter around that finger. She retired from dance this year and started focusing more on sports…specifically tennis and soccer but she loves having the down time from dance to enjoy “kicking it” with all her friends.

Jane has proven by years of punctuality, productivity and absolute domination in the realm of “being on the ball” that if she were Franklin Covey they’d still be profitable…1 point for Jane. Jane has officially gone back to school during which she has showcased her artistic and creative talent again and again through her work…another point given. She has started a business creating blogs on the side…imagine that??

Kiana falls right in line behind her with her constant reminders to dad-“Dad, have you…!” “Dad, don’t forget to…!” “Dad, we’re going to be late!”…1 point for her and another point for her mentor Jane. Kiana is the self sufficient little mom that excels in school, hits the dance studio for the rest of the night, gets home at around 9pm, makes her own food, does her homework and tucks herself in bed…1 point for Kiana and minus 1 point for a sleeping dad.

Dad was able to get us on a fun VAYCAY to Cabo despite having to really tighten up the Pro Look pocket book…1 point for him. He’s as focused as ever on building and growing his business.

After adding the points I think we should call it as the youth soccer coaches do…A TIE!!! We are a team totally and completely in love with each other and are extremely thankful for all our fans and supporters.

Merry, merry Christmas!

*adding to the competitive nature of our family…
lets be honest- Dusty wrote the letter this year, but don’t you think that mine was funnier last year???
