Jane’s workout

A few people have inquired lately,
Where do you work-out?
What do you do?
What’s your Ab work-out? (Reagan – GTU)

Here it goes – I work-out at home. For a few reasons,
1-I am unsatisfied with the childcare that most gyms offer
2-I don’t want to schedule the time driving to/from the gym
3-I tend to believe most elliptical machines at the gym are either too easy or they don’t have one that offers arm movement.
4-I am frustrated when my headphones or the audio equipment for the TVs don’t work well
5-I can’t always change the channel on the TVs to what I want to watch/etc. And, I value my TV time.
6-I really push myself on cardio, meaning, I really sweat. I love to go immediately to MY shower after my workout.

I work-out 5 days a week which is usually Monday – Friday but occasionally I throw in a weekend if I feel I need it.

Depending on the time available, I do 30-50 minutes of cardio on the Elliptical. My elliptical machine is pretty ghetto, and I am very sentimentally attached to it, but it is HARD. And I love it. At most gyms if I turn the level up to around 15 it is usually comparable. Make sure you really push yourself! (This is an elliptical – mine looks nothing like this :-))-
After my cardio, I do 100 sit-ups everyday. I change up my routine from full traditional sit-ups/crunches/exercise ball/etc. But, most often, I do 100 traditional sit-ups. I feel I get the best work-out and they really focus on my entire abdomen.
After sit-ups I use 8, 10, and 15 pounds free weights for my arms.
I do about-
3 x 30 curls with the 15 pds
3 x 30 overhead triceps extension with one 10 pd
3 x 15 butterflies with the 8 pounds for my shoulders

Yes, I do my arms everyday. I know this is controversial.
Also, I usually play 1 indoor soccer game a week year-round as a bonus work-out. Unless I’m goalie then not a whole lot of cardio takes place other than stress-sweat. 🙂

Keep in mind, if I’m not blogging I rarely – RARELY sit down. If I do sit down, I fall asleep….I ride bikes with my kids, play/coach soccer with them, drive them nonstop, chase them nonstop, play catch with them, swim with them, rock climb, I think I go up and down 3 flights of stairs at least 50 times a day in my house… In the summer, I love to play sand volleyball whenever I can. I love water sports. I’m going to start Mtn. Biking {I just can’t figure out all the fancy gears on my new bike yet!}

Stay busy & have fun!
Good luck to anyone starting a new work-out plan!!!

  1. Sounds much like mine, except I have to do more LEGS and butt every day and arms less often. Still, I am buying a membership to the Rhodes Family Gym and hiring you as my trainer/nutritionist after I have this baby! 🙂

You DID look great (HOT, I dare say!) on GTU, by the way… 🙂

  2. I love your picture of the sit ups. Where do you find this stuff?:) I have to agree…a home gym is the best. I am trying to rearrange mine right now so I can make room for some pilates equipment. Your hard work definately shows!

  3. I have been meaning to ask you about your workouts. I thought for sure you had a personal trainer or something. Very impressive that you continue to find motivation on your own and continue to push yourself!

  4. I was on my friend’s blog and found yours just through happenstance….I’m so glad I did! I love it! I caught you on GTU, and wow….., that’s all I can say. Thanks for sharing with us, I feel inspired…:)

  5. I also have a home gym. I love love love the elliptical, we got one at Christmas. And I’m surprised your ab workout is so simple. Obvioulsy it’s intense but I thought it would be medicine balls, trainers and all kinds of crazy hard moves. You give me hope that this is something I could do to! Love ya!

  6. Loved good things Utah!!! You girls looked awesome. Your very brave. If I looked as good as you in that bikini, id be wearing it around town. haha

  7. Sounds like a great workout. Tried your diet and I’m feeling super good. I will try your workout. Try the Provo Trail for mountain biking for a 40 minute ride to bridal vail falls . I do it 3 times a week. You will love it. It is safe.
