it is polite to pointe…

it is an urban-dance-myth that you begin pointe after you have turned twelve years old.

because

kiana was able to begin early last summer/fall, exactly six months before she turned twelve, which totally delighted her!

this past week, center stage performing arts studio where my girls dance held one of their annual recitals. three recitals in one weekend, to be exact. {for me, it is a really fun & very exhausting weekend!}

friday night was the ballet.

kiana performed a piece with her ballet 7 class, pictured here… these girls take ‘just’ ballet seven-and-a-half hours a week together. you really gotta love it.

sela wanted to sneak down before the show to see the girls getting ready, she also wanted to wear a shirt that night that matched the same color as mine, love my little sidekick! also pictured above is kiana with her friend cheyenne, they have socks over their pointe shoes to keep their pointe shoes clean on those nasty floors.

kiana was also chosen to perform a piece with just four girls titled, “the little swans,” that was so fun & beautiful! both of her ballet pieces were on pointe. as much as i loved watching kiana perform, it was equally fun to catch a glimpse of sela watching. She would get all hazy-eyed, and start swaying her head back and forth when the beautiful ballerinas were on stage. sela was completely in awe of them. After the ballet, sela anxiously waited for kiana in the hall to give her her flowers…

{dusty, kj & myla were there too, but were equally entertained by their itouch’s & dusty’s new app. my sporty ones are not so into the ballet – but are willing to support sis with some side-entertainment involved!}

  1. hey Kendra, thank you, you are very sweet.

    my clear flip-flops, and mustard tank top are from jcrew. my turqoise sweater is from 'bp' at nordstrom, and my denim boyfriend capri's are 'citizens of humanity' from last year…hope that helps.

    😉

  2. Kiana looks so grown up! She is such a great dancer. Can't wait to see what the future holds for her – talented, smart, beautiful, driven – she will go far!
