hiegh-ho, hiegh-ho, it’s off to school i go…

a peak at some of my first Drawing 1 art pieces…

drawing assignment #1, I had to use all straight lines in making this picture, no lines could be longer than about 2.5 inches.

I had to position 5 items:
1- fabric or cloth with a pattern
2- something “mechanical”
3- food
4- book or box
5- a cylinder shape.
Here’s what I came up with:

gestures {in class}:
we had to draw about 20 gestures, all in motion, each gesture needed to be done in 30 seconds – 2 minutes or less.
these were my best four-

drawing assignment #2
“negative” space
using a permanent black sharpie pen
my composition had to extend off three sides of the paper,
the black area had to have a pattern, notice the circles…

cross contour lines drawing {in class}:

linear perspective {in class}:
for this assignment we had to choose a place to sit on campus and draw…
this is the stairwell I walk up/down each day I go to class.
I posted two pictures because I like to see the difference it makes to view the drawing from two slightly different angles.

that’s it so far, I have another one I’m working on tonight due tomorow…maybe I’ll post them monthly, for my record.

In my photography class we are working with 35mm film. I took my first pictures, developed the film, and printed {by myself} my first finished project at school tonight! It. was. awesome. I am understanding aperture and shutter speed so much better by using film.

In my art history class, I have fallen in love with Egypt, the pyramids, circa 2500 BC and as soon as we take our family to New Zealand and Dubai, Egypt is now the next stop on my want-to-travel-to-list!

It’s been a busy 5 weeks, but going to school keeps me even more organized. My family has been incredibly sweet & supportive, it’s fun to sit by my kids and work on homework together at night.

Call me crazy. 🙂
