concord, massachusetts

December 6, 2012

while our friends were here, we went to concord to see the historical sites…
we were {meaning: i was} a little side-tracked by the charming antique shops…

we’ll go back to concord one day to see the historical stuff. we’ll go back on a warmer day in the spring.

do you antique? it’s a newer obsession of mine. i started here this year!

dear santa,

December 5, 2012

sela: i want a puppy, and all the things a puppy needs…

KJ: nerf gun, $100, …
Myla: nothing… {this girl never asks for anything!}

kiana: i want a puppy, specifically: an all-white or white-with-black-spots maltese.

north pole breaking news: they are out of puppies. the rhodes kids are going to have an interesting christmas.

dear readers, question: how long did you keep your children’s holiday traditions going? we sit on santa’s lap for our littlest. we do it… just for sela.

a day to be thankful.

November 22, 2012

friends, i hope you all enjoyed a cozy day filled with much to be thankful for. i know my cup runneth over, and this has been a perfect week and month to focus on my blessings.

first, i want to thank you with big hugs for all your prayers, thoughts, and good vibes you have sent my way for my thyroid surgery. i feel great. i expected to feel good, considering i had a day surgery, and knew my healing time wouldn’t be too long. however, i had no idea i would feel SO GOOD. Plus, i was so well-cared for during the few days i needed extra rest. my family, friends, and neighbors are angels. i had lots of extra snuggles and love from my family.

my little cheerleader

November 19, 2012

last weekend we received an email from our local high school cheerleaders that invited anyone in our community to join in cheering alongside them the next morning at the football game.

i instantly sent husband an email saying, sela would be all-over this!

as soon as i hit send, i received an email from husband saying, did you get this? i bet sela would want to go!

ha! our six year old bug is a big fan of cheerleaders.

out of three daughters, i might have one who follows in my footsteps…

that’s right. i was a cheerleader.

believe what you see – those are christmas tree lights in the background of our halloween dinner…

when hurricane sandy was en route to our state, and we were on day two of sitting in the house i told the kids maybe we’ll put the christmas tree up if we get really bored… and when you even mention christmas tree to a six year old girl. she doesn’t let you forget. ::smiles::

first things first — husband made it home safely and in time for halloween! {booyah!} AND! he brought us all cafe rio for dinner the night he flew home to boston from utah.

trunk-or-treat

October 31, 2012

do you attend a trunk-or-treat where you live??? have you ever heard of it? it’s a favorite tradition for my kids, they love helping me decorate our trunk just as much as the candy. this year we took supplies from home that we already had to trick out our car… the only new item was some blinking safety lights i found at our local grocery store for $1/each. we taped them on the back of the car, and it was a really fun extra.

IKEA striped fabric | paper landterns collected from here, and here, | i took our door mat & pumpkins right off our porch | huge basket from home {usually holds sports gear!}

however you trick-trunk-or-treat…
