flashback friday

October 8, 2010
i took a little break from my ‘flashback fridays,’
but now, i’m back
…because you can never over-document the past.
…sixteen years ago, when i was a freshmen in college at suu,
we had a newbie band visit cedar city.
the bands name was ‘life in general.’
and they performed a nighttime concert in a local park…
i hung around after the show to buy their cd, “long forgotten toys.”

…three years ago,
when i was sitting in this exact same spot,
trying to pick a url name for my blog,

if you think ‘L O S T’ is complicated…
don’t go see this film.

however, i proudly think, i’ve got the whole movie figured out.
the ending, does ‘spin’ us to believe that we need to wait for a sequel…

i love this quote:, from the beginning of the movie:

“What is the most resilient parasite?

Bacteria?
A virus?
An intestinal worm?

An idea.

Resilient… highly contagious.
Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it’s almost impossible to eradicate.

i can’t stress enough, how important i think this is,
‘create your own happiness.’
are you happy? really happy?
are you so full of zeal each day for what you are doing
that you can’t wait to get out of bed and start your day?
{even if you stayed up half the night blogging…}
are you taking care of YOU?
so often i see women creating unhappiness for themselves…

.....

don’t give up!!!

i keep telling myself, “don’t quit!” while i sit at the pottery wheel.

moaning and growling {maybe cursing} in my head…

it is so. hard.

lame, right?
*****
on another note,
how is the low-sugar thing going, for all of you, out there?
i am eight days in to lent,
eight days very low-carb & diet coke free.
i feel so good, i might decide to stay off it longer than lent,
we’ll see…

i’ve seen these posters popping up in the design world for some time now, and have been contemplating hanging one or two of them in our home.

after learning more about the history of where these posters originated, i’m even more drawn to them…

*****

a little history on this poster…

It was one of a series of three posters created by the British propaganda office during World War II, and the only one never displayed publicly.

The others were ‘Freedom is in peril, defend it with all your might’ and ‘Your courage, your cheerfulness, your resolution will bring us victory.’ The posters were distributed throughout the country at the onset of hostilities to encourage an “attitude of mind” rather than a specific aim.
