museum of science

September 12, 2011

the museum of science sits right over the charles river in boston.

it’s hu-mongous, and filled with endless exhibits to entertain kids, and adults. we made our first visit in july, and purchased a family membership for the year. so, we will be returning many, many, many times.

lately i’ve been thinking about all the planning, and work that has gone in to our little “bahston” adventure…

and i am exhausted thinking about it! ::smiles::

no, really. i think about how my friend jennifer said recenlty, “nothing worthwhile in life comes easy.

we started planning this “adventure” at least 18 months ago –

For some devout fanatics it is a life time goal to worship at Mecca. I’ve heard stories of Muslims traveling for weeks to kneel to the East in prayer in this sacred city. July 28th was that day for us… of course I’d been to Mecca many times but never with my entire family.

Our trip started hours before on the internet where we watched StubHub faithfully for the impending ticket prices slashed because of the rain. Shortly before they closed the sales it happened and we were able to get all 6 of us within 4 rows of the field just behind the on deck circle for the price that it normally costs for 1.

the first touristy-thing we did in massachusetts was take a “duck” tour.

what is a “duck tour?”

well… you board a W.W.II style amphibious landing vehicle that travels on land and water, and you tour downtown boston –

including the charles river.

you cruise by all the places that make boston the birthplaces of the american revolution and a city of firsts. from the golden domed state house to the boston common, the historic north end to {my favorite} newberry street, quincy market to the prudential tower,

spray parks

September 10, 2011

a little taste of our july in boston:

boston is dotted with spray parks all over the city.

best part: they’re free!

…while kj was in baseball camp,
we would pick him up at 3pm and head to a spray park –
it was a great way to cool off after hours of playing baseball!

my little sun bugs!

our gym… and a challenge.

September 9, 2011

lately, i have been forgoing the gym and the laundry and the upstairs bathroom that despertly needs to be cleaned and instead trying to get caught up on blogging, enjoying friends who came to visit, and trying to adapt to our new back-to-school-schedule.

i wake-up and put on my work-out clothes, i wear them all day while enjoying all that is new around us…

and then, i take them off and go to bed. did you catch that detail: i never worked out.

so.

i have a new challenge for myself, and for anyone who would like to join me.

i am going to get in great shape, in the next six weeks.

while living in a hotel, and we didn’t even have a fridge in our room, we managed to try as many restaurants in this area as possible. which, was fun. and most of the time, delicious! only a few places were not-so-great and didn’t make our list!

* nick’s pizza is right down the street from our house – their cheese pizza {thin crust} is uh-mazing.  the kids love it & we can get a large cheese pizza delivered to our front door for $9, for a city – i think that is a pretty great deal!

* johnny’s luncheonette is in newton, and it’s a total tourist stop.
