my myla

March 3, 2009
I walked into my bathroom tonight…

and

this little love note was waiting for me…

what i love most about this, is not only the sweet, thoughtful girl who left it there for me to find…

but I can completely picture the process involved. I imagine myla was brushing her teeth in my bathroom, getting ready for bed, {often distracted} she saw the hair accessories sitting on the counter, and her mind creatively put together the idea to write a message.

she has no idea how unique she is.

who knew a ponytail, headband, and some hair pins could show so much love?!?

LOVE that girl.

school lunch = cash reserve

February 27, 2009

disclaimer:
Myla- my child who eats school lunch religiously.
Kiana & KJ – my children who just the idea of eating school lunch disgusts them, and only occasionally will eat school lunch on “pizza day.” Fridays. Kiana & KJ take home lunches to school everyday.

moving on…at the beginning of this school year, I sent my three oldest kids all to school with $20. to give them a school lunch credit. Since then we have not heard anything about how much we owe or if the rhodes family still has any credit…

i have had this conversation with myla almost daily for the past six weeks…

me: “Myla, will you please ask the lunch lady or secretary at school if you owe anything for how many school lunches you’ve had.

Since Dusty’s been busy this week, I took my turn of driving. I was sad to think that these kids may not be going to the same school soon so I wanted a picture to remember the daily event.

although, I should also clarify. These are calm pictures. In my car we watch a movie,

January 30, 2009

ahhhh, mazatlan.
our home away from home.

Back in July, I shared our love of the Philippines. Well, my husband a.k.a. Pro Look Sports also has a factory in Mazatlan, Mexico.
Since PL started contracting work with this factory our family has been traveling to Mazatlan. While recently there we tried to nail down how many times we have gone. We think this was our seventh family trip. Of course Dusty has also gone solo. Our first trip there as a family I was pregnant with KJ. We have celebrated Halloween in Mazatlan, Thanksgiving, and lots of birthdays in-between. I am drawn to the familiarity Mazatlan has to us,
