my kids all go to school…

October 10, 2012

none of us were ready for back to school this year. we all wanted more summer vacation, more family time, more laziness. but regardless off how we felt, it happened. school started.

this year is a serious milestone. all of my kids are in school! not just preschool and up {considering preschool is a voluntary option.} but, they are all enrolled in kindergarten through high school, and i have reached this point of motherhood all too quickly, soon I’ll be looking for workplace furniture from somewhere like office monster so they can have a place to concentrate and do school work.

uncle bob’s salsa

October 9, 2012

my uncle bob is a foodie at heart, and while staying with him we were lucky enough to try and devour a wholeheckuvalot of his homemade salsa.

…we returned home from washington state, and i made it the next day because i was craving it something fierce!

i can’t recommend this recipe enough!

if possible, use all fresh ingredients. if not, i understand – the first evening i made this, after three stores i could not find fresh banana peppers and had to go for canned, shown in the picture above. {it was still amazing.}

the main ingredient is the banana peppers, so keep a higher ratio of those in comparison to the other items.

this trip? i feel guilty saying things like, “i needed this family-reunion-vacation” knowing traveling is a luxury, but i’m still going to say it. since we’ve returned to our home {almost five weeks ago} i am more relaxed than i’ve been in a long time, in sync with my husband, nature, my own mind and spirit. like my soul has found a peace it needed. why? i believe it was because i reconnected with so many of my kinfolk.

i believe, we each need those connections to stay balanced.

nostalgic…

October 9, 2012

the washington-family-reunion-road-trip-vacation-documentation continues on…

after our stop at lake quinault, we continued on to montesano. Montesano, Washington is my hometown. i was born in Juneau, Alaska and also moved to American Fork, Utah the year i was in third grade, but I definitely claim Montesano as my hometown. I lived their most the years from the time i was an infant till i was thirteen years old. and now, my kiddos have been there! so cool.

when i was a kid my grandpa would always tell me this story:

in the early days there was an indian chief named Monte, and one day the indian chief from the next village over paid Monte a visit.
