last weekend, we headed down to zion national park for memorial day-weekend. we met up with husbands relatives from laguna beach there. zion national park was kind of a middle-meeting-ground for most of us. plus, husband and i used to hike around these parts when we were dating in college, so it was very nostalgic and fun to take a family trip there. and, it was a good road trip-farewell-to-southern-utah-trip. trip. trip. trip. just to say it a few more times. ::smiles::
i actually uploaded all of the pictures/collages last week, and had my first negative run-in with word press. i have no idea what happen… but, after starting the post at 1:30 am, i hit publish around 3am one night…
and word press said, “this post cannot be published at this time…”
and i thought, “ok, i’ll save it and publish it later…” except, my entire post was gone. missing. no draft or image of it to be found. anywhere.
at 3am, this can be challenging to deal with. ya know?
so, i finally uploaded the pictures AGAIN. and this time around, i don’t have the energy to add all the writing/explaining/links/etc/etc —
so, without further adu, here is our memorial day weekend, in all it’s glory, in pictures-only.
one of these days, when i’m not preparing a family of six to move across the country –
i will add the rest of the details…
or, we will simply look at the pictures to recall our fond memories…
Wow, what an amazing trip! We loved visiting Zion’s Park when we lived in UT!!! Banana boats are the yummiest treat on vacation!!! Breathtaking pictures, m’dear!!!
I’ve never been there! I should since I live in Utah π I wish your blog wasn’t going private! I’ll totally miss it π
Looks like an incredible trip! Love Zion’s Park – all of your wonderful pictures make me want to go back! That zip line looks like SO much fun!! Love all of the pics!
WOW! That looks like an amazing fam trip! And I have to try those Banana smore thingy’s this summer!
I would love to have a few words about those bananas smothered in marshmallows. We are going camping in a few weeks and could totally do those with all the kids! Looks like you had a great time in a beautiful place.
hey Erin – i replied about those bananas down below… check it out. π They are a TOTAL hit wherever we go! seriously ruins my good-eating. ::winks::
One word to describe Zion: BEAUTIFUL!
ok, so we are going this next weekend for our taylor family reunion and now i am so excited to do some hiking!! LOOKS GORGEOUS!
fabulous pictures!
Looks B-E-A-utiful!
How do you make those Banana Boat things? Those looked amazing!
AMY! they’re so easy + AMAZING! we take a banana, slice it right down the middle – we stuff in ROLOS {and, on this trip – kiana discovered if we actually slice the rolos into 3 little sections, they even melt more-evenly in the banana} and mini marshmellows, wrap in foil – place in the campfire till it’s all warm and melted and EAT! it’s SO good!!! i hope you try it!
we’ve also tried reese’s peanut butter cups, chocolate chips, and other chocolates – but, rolos are definitely are favorite!
xo.
Beautiful pictures!
Our family went to Zion’s over Memorial Day too and we also went to Bryce. It was beautiful weather down there and then we came home to snow in Northern Utah………yuck! I took the same pictures as you of the beautiful flowering cactus with the pink flowers and the red indian paint brush. I love Utah’s beauty! What’s the name of the cabins you stayed in? Is that private or can anyone stay there?
We stayed at “the ponderosa ranch & resort” – it was great. We shared a large cabin with 3 families {13 total} and we all had beds, were super comfy, etc. – the cabin was great + had a hot tub and fire pit outside, so you have the comforts of hotel + camping. π And, the ranch had all the zip lines, 4-wheelers, miniature golf, pool, and so much more + a spa and room service β you could even pre-order tin-foil dinnersβ¦ It was seriously the best β I know they have a website.
Hope that helps!
xo.
Thank you so much. Yes, that helps, and I’m going to look at that for the next time we go.
Looks amazing, beautiful!
email me where you stayed… looks like a blast, and right up matt and kade’s alley!
looks like a fabulous family vacation/adventure. π And those banana things look so good! I must try them!
What a FUN memorial weekend! Zion National Park looks beautiful! I have just added this to my list of places to visit.
So, so fun being with cousins! Zions was a perk but being with family is just too good. Shout out to Martin (the original Moosey) and Ally for planning it!
I’m loving the cardboard lemonade/macaron stand! I need to start playing with cardboard boxes more often!
what a gorgeous place!!!
Wow! I can’t believe I’ve still nevere gone to Zion!!!! It is definitely a must see soon! What beautiful pictures that you captured!!! And lots of fun! Look just like our kind of vacation!
The first time we went to Zions, someone called the park ranger on Stu because he was breaking off tree branches for fire wood–I told him it was prohibited but the so called “eagle scout” just looked at me like I was a fool. That’s so cool your kids got this experience before you head back east. I’m so excited for you.
Oh my gosh – that looks like SO much fun! And absolutely gorgeous!
Zions is such a fun place!!! I love seeing the adventures and ‘trips’ you take with your cute family.
