Vegas

August 19, 2008

Day 1
We drove to Vegas – caravan’d with the Reese & Sosa families – and checked into the Mirage…
Pretty much crashed for the night.
Although, I will note that our kids were smitten with our very “old-Vegas” style hotel suite. There were 2 tv consols with large square TV’s that would raise/lower out of the top of the consol when you pressed the power button on the remote. Luckily, the tv’s were very sturdy because this became a carnival ride. To sit on top of the TV then raise with it as it popped up. I’ve been playing online craps and touching up my skills ready to hit a casino. There is no way I’m coming to vegas and not going to at least one casino.

Philippines

July 23, 2008

It has been 6 years since Kiana, Myla, and I have been to the Philippines, way too long. This was KJ’s first trip.

It takes 27 hours to go from point A to point B for this trip. A friend of ours who visited the Phillipphines told us about using a transportation service called 2go travel but we had already made our plans. The kids are troopers, their parents are super-troopers. When we arrive in Manila, Dusty has made it a habit to spend the night at Edsa Shangri-la for a night then the next morning, we make the drive to the factory about 2 hours north of Manila to Angeles.

Philippines, here we come!At 4am, our trip begins.
To get there, It will take…
11 days of babysitting for Sela; thank you Aunt Nancy!
27 hours of traveling
3 flights, 2 long layovers
3 hours of driving
10 pieces of checked luggage
6 carry-on bags
a dose of something, to help the kids sleep
and then we’ll be at-
our final destination…ahhhhh.
Till then, wish us luck!

I never thought it would happen.
I married a man who likes clean hands,
he brushes his teeth 4 times a day,
He likes to have a “clean” work-out, which means a shower before and after…
He is a man’s-man, but NOT an out-doors man…
He hates fishing.
He found some thermal scopes for good price but decided he didn’t want to go hunting in the end.

He tried to go on a father/son camp-out with the neighborhood guys last summer,
and he had to drive home twice to get things he’d forgotten for KJ
then they slept in his truck when it all came down to it.

This weekend we were in Logan, Utah for dance.
This is an annual event for my girls.
We had a great girls weekend – they put some time into dancing, swimming, and we found a great restaurant – Hamilton’s Steak House. Very Ruth’s-Chris style, but “Logan” prices – a great combination.

Kiana’s contemporary solo, “veins” received a 1st place! Choreography by Savannah Dalton

Kiana’s jazz solo, “amazing mayzie” received a 4th…she had a small dance error 🙂 Choreography by Savannah Dalton

{this was the last time for Kiana to perform both of these solo’s –

Bahama Mama’s

January 15, 2008

Pure bliss. Daphne and I relaxed (an abundance of sleep), soaked up the sun (minor sunburns), worked out (2 a days on some), visited the spa (maybe indulged more than we should have), read (finished 2+ novels each), enjoyed live music (bahamian style), ate delicious food (especially the seafood). We have definitely started something that could be a yearly tradition!

This is Grand Bahama Island a.k.a. Freeport City as we were flying in. It is the closest island to Florida in the Bahamas, only 55 miles off the coast.
We found a little corner of the resort that was ours each day, between the infinity pool and beach, our little solitude.
