the rhodes/bland familia’s.

this was one of our annual family trips with the Bland clan.
We have been traveling together for about 6 years now.

Susan a.k.a. Spicy {a nickname I gave her because this girl does not mess around when it comes to HOT food, she can eat more jalapenos in one bite than anyone I know, also I think it’s pretty ironic since her last name is BLAND} and I became good friends about 10 years ago when our husbands worked together.

Our trips are always fun, we have some fabulous & crazy memories, and the kids love having buddies to play with. The parents love taking a babysitter and enjoying family time all day and adult time at night.

nycda – houston

November 25, 2008

Kiana had a goal.
she wanted to earn an nycda “mini outstanding dancer” award which is the top award for dancers ages 7-10 years old that comes with a scholarship for one year for all other regional nycda competitions and it covers all your fees for nationals in nyc. Plus, when we go to nyc this summer she will get to be in a special “outstanding dancers” production number and still compete as a mini since she will be turning 11 before then… anyway, some of that is dance world linguistics…

When center stage, our dance studio went to nycda regionals in salt lake city I watched her work her butt off in every workshop class and get chosen by teachers to demonstrate things,

38 years, and counting…

ONcE upon a time there was a very handsome man who was head over heels in love with this girl. She made him crazy. Little did the man know, the girl had another boyfriend. whoops. But eventually this girl came to her senses and dumped the other boyfriend. So when this man said I love you and asked her to be his bride, she said NO. But, when he asked the SECOND time she said YES.

This man is celebrating his birthday today. He is so sweet and all he asked for was to spend time with his family. So his family took him to Park City yesterday.

what a fun weekend. I was exhausted at the end of it, and I can only imagine how Kiana felt because she was the one doing all of the dancing! On Friday she attended workshop classes from 3-10:30pm, and then we stayed at the oh-so-hip hotel Monaco. i love their decor…the hotel Monaco is a pet-friendly hotel, but if you have left your pet home, then they have a “guppy love” program. You request a goldfish, and they bring it to you! I requested one to surprise Kiana, she thought it was pretty cool-
On Saturday morning, we were up and going early. Her first workshop class started at 8am. She attended classes till 2:30 and during that time also had scholarship auditions for the minis (ages 7-10 years).

more Las Vegas…

September 25, 2008

After non-stop sightseeing with Alson & Myla,
Dusty and I hung around Vegas for a few more days,
just us.

We have not had time alone, in about a year,
so it was very nice.

We moved from Mandalay Bay over to the new “Palms Place,” at the Palms.

I loved our contemporary room. Many of the hotels are renovating to a newer sleek contemporary feel, and I just love it.

We discovered a killer restaurant at the top of Palms Place called, “Simon.”
Simon has a perfect niche on American food, homestyle and mmm… after our first meal there I wanted to eat every meal there!

touring Las Vegas, day 5

September 24, 2008

After arriving past midnight to Vegas, Dusty and I took advantage of SLEEPING the next morning while Alson and Myla began their sightseeing.

Since we were staying at the Mandalay Bay, they woke up and went to the “Shark Reef” exhibition that we had just gone to with our kids in August…

Then we met up with them to go to the Venetian…

Dusty had two things he was shopping for on this trip.
1-sunglasses
2-fossil wallet

When we walked into the Venetian Palazzo shops, Dusty walked straight into the store Dolce’ and experienced love at first sight with these sunglasses…

Chrome Hearts.
