This past weekend, KJ was baptized. After the baptism, we had friends and family gather at our home for brunch. It was such a special celebration. By tradition, kids are baptized at age eight in the LDS religion. Because KJ is almost 10, he took lessons from the missionaries and made the decision to be baptized on his own, by his request. I adore his desire to be good, and cherish his genuine, pure heart.

To celebrate, I used a white on white theme to go along with the purity of the ceremony.  For brunch we served all of KJ’s favorites – white powdered donuts, a crepe bar with all the yummy sides,

last september we had our family pictures by blue lily photography. at the same time they shot a little video of us. i absolutely adore those blue lily peeps, and if you haven’t checked out their siteyou should. they are currently touring the world teaching photography and shooting incredible photos in the process. they may be near you soon! they will be in boston again this Fall.

each time i watch this video i catch myself smiling from beginning to end. so many little things that you might not notice that happen every day in our family are caught on tape.

hope you enjoy the video.

cheerleader valentines

February 6, 2013

how many more things can i create with a yarn ball? ha! here’s one more! this idea came to me a few months ago when i was wrapping my fingers one afternoon to make a yarn ball, and thought, pom poms! of course! we cheer with pom poms! three cheers for valentine’s day! i instantly visualized a little card with a tiny cheerleader. and….. this idea is perfect timing this year since my little bug sela has been obsessed with cheerleaders!

soon after i had this idea, i asked my very talented friend merrilee of mer mag blog to create the illustration on the front of the card for me.

good morning! i am writing from my hotel room, and getting ready for the first day of Alt. Summit! it feels like a bestie reunion, and i can’t wait to see everyone today. before i jump in to the world of bloggers, i wanted to share a fun craft idea with you…

if you are anything like me, you tend to collect things that look like they might be useful later: glass jars, buttons, pine cones, cool sticks, and wine corks! however, i would never drink enough wine in my lifetime to supply my children with hoards of wine corks to craft with…

to read about how we collected a bajillion wine corks + what we created…

hey friends. happy martin luther king day! i am posting from a salon in utah while i sit with my laptop on my lap and tin foils all over my head! getting my hair done is one of my favorite things ever. you?

last week, kiwi crate sent us their valentine crate, and i wanted to start the week off by sharing the details with you! first, this crate full of crafty goodies was the perfect distraction for my sela when i was packing for Alt. Summit. she does not like her momma leaving her and i was having a hard time getting anything done with her tugging at my leg!

happy mail saved the day!
