believe what you see – those are christmas tree lights in the background of our halloween dinner…

when hurricane sandy was en route to our state, and we were on day two of sitting in the house i told the kids maybe we’ll put the christmas tree up if we get really bored… and when you even mention christmas tree to a six year old girl. she doesn’t let you forget. ::smiles::

first things first — husband made it home safely and in time for halloween! {booyah!} AND! he brought us all cafe rio for dinner the night he flew home to boston from utah.

trunk-or-treat

October 31, 2012

do you attend a trunk-or-treat where you live??? have you ever heard of it? it’s a favorite tradition for my kids, they love helping me decorate our trunk just as much as the candy. this year we took supplies from home that we already had to trick out our car… the only new item was some blinking safety lights i found at our local grocery store for $1/each. we taped them on the back of the car, and it was a really fun extra.

IKEA striped fabric | paper landterns collected from here, and here, | i took our door mat & pumpkins right off our porch | huge basket from home {usually holds sports gear!}

however you trick-trunk-or-treat…

candy bandits costume

October 23, 2012

Are you ready for halloween? Are you dressing-up this year? Have you chosen a costume? you have eight days to decide!!! this year our kids are divided 2:2 in costumes.  however, our color scheme coordinates with both costume ideas which i think turned out pretty rad.  {i’ll show you our second homemade costume idea tomorrow.}

If you are dressing up and need last minute ideas, both of these costumes could easily be thrown together with items you may already have in your closet! or, if you need to purchase a few items – they are all items (black jeans, black hoodie, black chuck tailors} you can adapt into your wardrobe after the holiday. {bonus!}

since my kids are getting older —

stowe, vermont

October 17, 2012

last last weekend, we hit the road again for a mini trip in honor of columbus day. this time, we headed four hours north to stowe, vermont.

we joined forces with a huge majority of other fellow-new-englanders and did what people do out here at this time of year: we followed the foliage north, and became leaf peepers!

that’s right – we took a weekend trip just to observe the beautiful shades of leaves this area of the country offers at this time of year.

we stopped by the Ben & Jerry’s ice cream factory in vermont, made visits to three antique shops, enjoyed everything the Trapp family lodge had to offer,

my kids all go to school…

October 10, 2012

none of us were ready for back to school this year. we all wanted more summer vacation, more family time, more laziness. but regardless off how we felt, it happened. school started.

this year is a serious milestone. all of my kids are in school! not just preschool and up {considering preschool is a voluntary option.} but, they are all enrolled in kindergarten through high school, and i have reached this point of motherhood all too quickly, soon I’ll be looking for workplace furniture from somewhere like office monster so they can have a place to concentrate and do school work.

when you have your first baby,
