happy monday!

January 16, 2012

hey friends. i am writing to you from utah today! woo*hooo! it feels so good to be back in the mountains of the west. surrounded by family & friends. for the first time since i’ve been a momma, i am on a trip sans husband & kids for nine days. and, the more amazing detail – husband is running life at home. {i know he’ll do great.}

… last week i spent some time playing with paper flowers, doilies, and coffee filters. my big girls have been waiting for me to do something with their bedroom walls since we moved to boston and i finally did.

come back tomorrow to see what i did!

home sweet home – boston edition.

the “third is a charm” home we applied for & are living in…is a big old updated colonial home built in 1861, we actually have a plaque by the front door honoring the home from our town. do the math: it is 150 years old this year!

the home is full of natural light, three-and-a-half baths, eight – yes – count ’em – 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 BEDROOMS, lots of parking space, the most darling-ever tree swing in our front yard. and in our price range…which is the best part. although technically i think the best part is that it is right next to the best park in town which also boasts the most amazing playground i’ve ever seen.

i’m on a crafty marathon around here…

my latest project: the most brilliant art ever created with recycled paper towel & toilet paper rolls! Originally I wanted something similar to this mural wallpaper to decorate the rooms, but then I had a brilliant idea.

i first spotted this wall art last year at my fave local boutique ‘soel.’ my darling friend shelby is the owner, and a couple months ago she hosted a craft night to create these, but i was out of town and couldn’t go…

so, after months of this being on my ‘to-do’ list, i finally *saved enough rolls to get started!

.....

1. my art room
2. creating spaces for my kids to create
3. organizing with a rainbow theme

this was a very easy, fun project. and it was spurred by my myla.
she wanted to organize the markers by color, so we rounded up all the small vases/jars we had already – and voila!

rainbow happiness.

i hope all my kids will have a passion for creating. for crafting. for painting. for writing. for designing. for making something out of nothing. because no matter what else is going on in life, no matter where they are, creativity provides so much happiness and confidence.
