green.

March 21, 2012

we drove into the city, found a great spot to park on west street. walked around enjoying the sunshine. had hot dogs and sodas at the boston common. we rode the T out to south boston for the annual st patty’s day parade – lots of green traveling on the subway!

we waited two hours for the parade, but made it to the front for a great view! the parade was fun, simple, festive – lots of bagpipes, armed forces, star wars, and saint patrick!  we left early. we are not really parade people… i recommend going to it once in your life,

everybody’s irish on st. patrick’s day – at least it seems like that in the USA. especially here in boston! did you know Boston held America’s first st. patrick’s day celebration in 1737, and the city is called the Irish capital of America?

if you decide to join in the fun, here are my ideas for green festivities!

on saturday morning {very early} we will dye our traditional crepes green + the kids love green milk! this year for our milk i found these adorable mason jar tumblers. i love how they look with our green stripy straws! and the kids will love using them long after st.

easter eve.

April 24, 2011

the easter bunny was full of surprises this year. with a little tradition too. everything was still color-coded, meaning each child was assigned a color & that meant they only hunted for eggs that color. this keeps things balanced & friendly, in a competitive family.

the kids were screaming with delight, which means husband and i were smiling at each other with super-delight. evenings like this make me feel settled. like i am right where i am supposed to be with who i am supposed to be with – and all is well.

our kiddo’s kept taking breaks to count how many eggs they had found,

Thanksgiving

December 1, 2010

…was cold.

like, bitter cold.

we made plans for the annual neighborhood turkey bowl,
but no one showed up.
because, they are all smart and don’t go outside when it’s that cold!
however, we still bundled up and went…
it was our family, and the howell boys’ annual turkey kick ball!

thank goodness for the howell boys.
what, oh what, would we do without them?!?

once playing…we all warmed up and it was awesome.
i love a good game of kick ball.
seriously.
and our kids do too…
we’re all kick ball fans.

however, husband was especially grumpy while i was trying to play and take pictures,

we had one final hoorah with some of our best friends…

the bland family.

thank you for a delicious meal, a warm swimming pool,

great company, and more fireworks!
we love you.

see that dessert below? it is the yummiest thing of ever!
wow. dusty & i ate ourselves silly!!!
as soon as i get my hands on the recipe, i will be sharing it.
