the winds blew…

September 2, 2008

It goes without saying, that when Dusty is not home, challenges arise.

It has been this way, for a decade.

I will deal with my hardest moments when he is on the other side of the world…
every time.

This week is no different. It’s nothing I can’t handle, but nonetheless, it happens.

Last night, if you were in Utah County, you know the winds blew and blew and blew…

My kids and I had a fabulous evening at our dear friends – the Bland home.
When we left their house, I had a phone call from my Mom saying,
“Bonnie called {our neighbor whom the TALL trees belong to}…some more trees came down tonight…”

Vegas

August 19, 2008

Day 1
We drove to Vegas – caravan’d with the Reese & Sosa families – and checked into the Mirage…
Pretty much crashed for the night.
Although, I will note that our kids were smitten with our very “old-Vegas” style hotel suite. There were 2 tv consols with large square TV’s that would raise/lower out of the top of the consol when you pressed the power button on the remote. Luckily, the tv’s were very sturdy because this became a carnival ride. To sit on top of the TV then raise with it as it popped up. I’ve been playing online craps and touching up my skills ready to hit a casino. There is no way I’m coming to vegas and not going to at least one casino.

Sundance

August 4, 2008

Our family & the Howell Boys went up to Sundance today to ride the chair lifts. It was a beautiful day, and perfect weather for doing so. Before we left, we heard there were thunderstorms moving in, then on the drive up the canyon we passed the Provo canyon fire, near bridal veil falls and began to second guess our plans. Fortunately, none of this affected the chair lift ride.

After our chair lift ride & a little hiking, we had dinner at the Foundry Grill. Then on the way down the canyon, like so many other drivers, we pulled over to watch the helicopters & firefighters working on the fire. Our kids were fascinated. Hopefully it will be under control and finished burning,

Troy & I are good ‘ol Granger alumni, we went to high school together and as we all scattered after h.s. he went on his way to the Minor Leagues {AA} for about 7 years. This makes Troy {by FAR} Dusty’s favorite h.s. friend of mine.
{Matt Stakehouse, no tears, you don’t count because you’re older than me…}
Troy is currently living in Arizona with his adorable family, and it is a rare & fabulous occasion when they come to visit.

Yesterday, we had a casual evening including dinner at our home with Troy, Kajsa, and Brady. While I was finishing the cooking, everyone headed out to the backyard for batting practice.

Seven Peaks Water Park

June 24, 2008

We had our second trip of the summer to Seven Peaks yesterday. We went with great friends & had lots of fun! It was a HOT day, and perfect for being in water all day. Here are the younger kids in our group –

Crew & Sela
The older kids; these kids are so cute together, they will all be in 3rd grade at a private school in the same class this next year and they are such great friends! They spent the day going non-stop on slides
KJ adores Olivia & Hayes {twins} and it’s so great he had them to play with because he doesn’t have an interest hanging out with the older kids to do slides all day!
