mini sandcastles

August 8, 2012

this week, sela, kj and i have been touring the beaches of massachusetts. searching for our favorite beach while myla is at {her sixth!} tennis camp and kiana is at a dance intensive. and while touring, we’ve gotten a little creative with our sandcastles.

when we were packing our bags this morning, i started digging through our small kitchen cups, etc. – i instantly had the idea to use all mini cups and tupperware for building our sandcastles today. then, i looked through my baking supplies and once i spotted the leftover cupcake flags from the fourth of july, i knew those had to be flags on top of our sandcastles!

once at the beach,

one year ago today July 8th, 2011 – our life in Boston began! It’s crazy how fast the time has passed. we get asked all the time if we are liking it here – and yes. we are definitely liking our life in Boston. however, i will say – i think husband, the kids and I could live anywhere and enjoy our experiences. really. it’s in our blood/lifestyle to be optimistic.

First and foremost, can I say I LOVE google maps on my iPhone and i have no idea how we all survived pre-GPS-technology. It has saved me this year.

With that said, here are 10 things we love {and don’t love} about living in Boston:

six flags new england

July 2, 2012

this was my first time to go to a six flags! is that crazy? i didn’t go to any big amusements parks growing up, my parents were kind of over that stage of their lives. And since having our own family, husband and I have done all the disney stuff with our kiddos – disneyland, disney world, disney cruise – so it’s time to break off from our routine and try some new parks! do you have any favorites?

It’s a 90 minute drive from where we live to go to six flags new england, and it was the perfect way to take a break from unpacking boxes and laundry. we had about an hour of rain,

Land’s Sake

June 22, 2012

we went strawberry picking last week with friends. the pickings were very very slim, but we still had a great time outdoors. the best part: we discovered land’s sake! a farm in the suburb right next to us. It’s only about 10 minutes away with a charming veggie stand, and all kinds of cool workshops and events.

once a month they host a supper club: a monthly series of gourmet dinners expertly prepared by a local chef featuring fresh produce from Land’s Sake Farm and other nearby farms. Each monthly three-course dinner at the Barn highlights a seasonal theme served family style to 40 guests in an historic tavern. how fun is that?!?

candlepin bowling.

February 2, 2012

we love trying new things around new england.
our latest adventure {last weekend} was candlepin bowling!

we were awful. it’s a lot harder than regular bowling.
and very different.  however, we had a lot of fun.
…we enjoyed trying to see how many “ball” jokes we could make.
husband some of us, may never grow up.

have you ever tried candlepin bowling?
even heard of it?

{it was developed in massachusetts!}
